I would say give it a try, but go back a few times and keep trying things, as has been said some of the goods are as good as you can get anywhere, others aren't to our taste. We do find the veg doesnt stay fresh for long. Having been a Sainsburys online shopper I find my Aldi shop just as quick- not as much choice so can't be picky- but saving us pounds every week, :T we just pop back to Sainsburys once a month to stock up on extras. Downside of Aldi for me is lack of gluten free food as I am coeliac.0

I have done a lot of shopping at Aldi. YOu will start to love their inhouse brands. It's super high quality. Much better than Tesco.0

I think I will find it hard to covert with things like Lurpak butter, Lenor Fabric Softener so any advice would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks in advance everyone!
I use Aldi for breads, cold meats, cheese, milk and some fruit and veg. Really good for snack bits too. Our local one gets deliveries on a Monday and Thursday, so I buy veg 'from the back' on those days, picking the packs with the longest BB date.
One note though, if you're really saving money, switch from fabric softener to vinegar in the wash. I haven't used Lenor in nearly a decade, my towels last longer and my clothes don't seem to colour-fade as fast either. Saves a fortune, and everything is just as soft (and doesn't smell of chip shops). Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
LB moment - March 2006. DFD - 1 June 2012!!! DEBT FREE!
May grocery challenge £45.61/£1200 -
I am a butter only person and old fashioned "hard" butter at that but the Aldi spreadable pretend Lurpak is lovely, really lovely.
I would highly recommend trying that if you go!
Like others have said, you do need to try it to see if it suits your families tastes.
I dont get there often (need someone to take me in a car) but when I do go, I consider it a TREAT!
:rotfl:
I also found their muesli/porridge type products (oats and all sorts of fruits and nuts etc) very good quality indeed, but havent had it for quite some time.....
And products do change over time, as they change suppliers etc.
Oh.......and their sausages were good too.
Not their highest meat ones, or top of the range ones.....wish I could remember what they were called, but very tasty and not a bit of gristle or bone insight, unlike my experiences with Sainsburys and TescosWho can give advice on Aldi shopping both pro's and con's? I think I will find it hard to covert with things like Lurpak butter, Lenor Fabric Softener so any advice would be greatly appreciated?

I shop at Aldi, every monday for me 4 nights as a single person (I'm back with my wife at the weekends). She refuses to shop at Aldi as she once went to our local one (which is 6 miles away when tesco is 400 yrds) and saw raw meat on the floor and dripping blood.
What I've started to do is to gradually buy more than I need and take some home every week, so that she's using aldi stuff without realising I've stocked the cupboards with it.
You've got to be careful. I nearly bought a petrol generator this week, and did buy some iron on t shirt printing 'paper' which we don't need, but I figured on making some novelty Christmas presents for my parents, with some photo's I've taken.0 -
Personally, I think the best place to buy fruit and veg is at the market.£2 Savers club £0/£150
1p a day £/0 -

Other items from Aldi that are good:
Washing up liquid
Dog treats (gravy bones and marrow bones)
Gratin potatoes
Carbonara sauce (in a jar)
Mushrooms (big pack £1.79)
Rice cakes (yoghurt or chocolate covered ones)
Mini Bries when available (chilli, blue and garlic/herb flavours)
Marinated salmon fillets (ready to eat, handy for packed lunch, salads or picnics)
Rice pudding
Sanitary towels
Hand soap
I'm sure there's plenty moreJust go for it, forget about the brands you know and try something new. You will most likely not taste/feel the difference, apart from in your purse
