Aldi! I am thinking of converting!

Hi folks, I am getting married in 12 weeks and to say money is tight at the moment is an understatement, so I was thinking about starting my shopping in Aldi, I am currently a Tesco shopper as we have one local in the village, Aldi is in the nearest town which is a 15 minute drive away, so need to consider whether it will be worth my while!
We are a family of 4 our boys are 7 and 2 - I have heard good reports on fruit and veg, cereal, just wondered if any more recommendations?
Who can give advice on Aldi shopping both pro's and con's? I think I will find it hard to covert with things like Lurpak butter, Lenor Fabric Softener so any advice would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks in advance everyone!

All I can say is try the different product, as we all have different tastes some things suit one but not another. They now (along with Lidl) sell branded goods so have long since stopped being that cheap.
Like most supermarkets swings & roundabouts. I do not shop often at Aldi but find Lidl fruit & veg almost a no go as it may look good but taste, quality and longevity not so hot.
Have a look around pick up what you think is a good buy and try some things you might not normally, you will soon know what suits you and what not to buy.
Their clothes wash powder gets a really good rating.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Budget for a couple of the Parking Eye charge notices when working out your budget, they have a very amnesic camera system.Be happy...;)0

You can just ignore parking notices they mean nothing.0

I shop in Aldi every week, but I am selective in what I buy.
Today my shopping consisted of the following:
Pringle style crisps 85p
Chocolate digestive biscuits 65p for 400g pack (better than McVities)
Jar of Tikka curry sauce 79p
Basmati rice 1 kg £1.29
French Torchon Ham (lovely) £1.59 for 200g pack
Ready to wok noodles 49p
Radish 49p
Box nectarines (5) 89p
6 low fat yogurts 95p
Wholemeal bread (sliced) 55p
Mint sauce 49p
I also usually buy their fruit and veg when on offer, but there was nothing I fancied today.
Give Aldi a try, you never know you might like the store.
Do remember though that you cannot use a credit card.
Aldi also do a 'Lurpak' style butter which is very nice. I have forgotten the price, but it is certainly cheaper than Tesco.
There are a few things that you can't buy in Aldi i.e. curry powder.0 -
I always liked Aldi, but last week we went there, hadn't been in ages and bought lots of fruit and veg amongst other things. The apples were bad and the carrots were mouldy by the second day, disappointing.0
