Added another few £ to my savings today.
My E-saver now stands at £6.92 and my savings account stands at £124.79.
Pitiful really, but everyone has to start somewhere, right?0 -

Absolutely. It's what's always put me off, and I end up spending my paltry savings - but yes, if you don't start and stick to it, it will never build up!My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!
EVERYTIME i try and save up some money, something wipes it out!
Car in for it's MOT today, which it failed in spectacular fashion...£400 to fix it! Thats my savings gone, plus this weeks wages, plus having to put a bit of my Credit Card!
Trying desperately to think positively (it could have been worse, at least i have some savings) but getting a bit p*$$ed off now. I dont have a choice though, i need the car for work.
Sorry, rant over!0 -
Can I jump on board?
Im stashing away some savings in a secret pot without my hubby knowing!! SO I can just go ta-da in a few months time and we can do something nice!
So far there's £65 in there from ebay sales and some sales on the local facebook selling page.
Dh has lost loads of weight recently so put a big bag of clothes out to go to charity. I have schnaffled it away and selling bits and pieces from it every now and again on ebay!!!! loads of rugby shirts and cycling gear which sells for about a fiver an item :-)
We were given some clothes for the youngest DD and whilst im very grateful some of it just isn't practical for our lifestyle. We are keeping lots but some stuff us going on ebay soon (jodphurs, ballets outfits, incorrect colour school uniform etc).
Good luck everyone with your saving plans!!0 -
Oh WantToBe... That is rubbish news!!
I know it is hard when life deals you a blow - but imagine how it would have been before your decision to save and be more financially aware - the whole £400 on the CC...??I know what I was like before my MSE days!!
Haven't got much to update on the savings front - roll on payday!! It's my birthday on Wednesday though, so any gifts will be going straight into savings - will be back to update then!!
Welcome to teacherandmum
Nice to have you along for the ride - I think that's an excellent idea! Your hubby will be suprised!!
Hope everyone is well - keep looking after those pennies!!:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"0 -
Hi all
Sorry to have not posted for so long but there has been no money coming in really.
Payday has been and gone and I only managed £25 into my savings, so they're at £75 now. However all other savings have also been topped up so they're looking healthy.
I need to pay my annual train pass in December and will have saved £325 towards it, going to put the rest onto an 6.9% CC and chuck £75 a month at it, hopefully will only have to pay about £10 interest which is much cheaper than buying it monthly (£25 difference). Going to try and increase how much I save towards it for next time.
Hope everyone is doing well xxMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Similar story here!! Wiped out the Car Fund (and some!) with a £405 MOT bill! Welding and brakes. Bloody rustbucket.
Also wiped out the holiday fund but had a fabulous relaxing time at Center Parcs so that was money well spent! And wiped out the presents fund on OH's birthday this weekend.
Currently all my pots are back to a big fat zero, but they've all been spent on what they were meant to be so I suppose that's the point! Now to start over again for christmas presents, the next holiday (NYC in December) and the car insurance due in January. In total I think I need about £1200 out of the 3 pay packets I have between now and then so I think I better hit the overtime as I can only save £200 from my basic (separate to the £300 that goes into my FD Regular Saver).DEBT FREE 3rd Sept 2011

I need to join in here, savings for the year at £11,000 but iv used £9,000 elsewhere so I'm at £2,000 in a weather dependant job so need to get that figure boosted before the cold starts to bite. Aim was £15,000 over the year so including October iv 3 months to get £4,000 stashed away!! Can definitely be gone if my mot and service(due next week) is less than last years £2,000 bill!! And if I keep expenses down. Got a long weekend off work but after that on 5 and a half days a week until December to try and boost funds to that £6,000 target. Next year I'm trying to save half net income, love a good challenge!!:eek:Living frugally at 24
