    A couple of tips:
    1) Set up a standing order to transfer some money once a month (say £50) into a savings account the day after you get paid. If they money isn't in your main account you won't spend it.
    2) Keep a track of every penny you spend in a spreadsheet. You'll be amazed to see where the money goes - those sandwiches and cans of coke all add up.

Thanks Doshwaster - I already have a spending diary but will keep on with that. I also do a standing order to all my other savings which works well but this is the pot that keeps falling by the wayside when I need something so I need to work harder at it. I will go and set up my standing order now.

Some GREAT news here - I've been chasing my £125 incentive for switching to First Direct and it has arrived today - so that's half of my £250 balance transfer paid off - YAY! Means I can start saving harder much sooner :D
