I hope your cat is ok mommyof4

Sue-UU - yes I think a holding pot is definitely the way forward for next year. I've already found myself dipping into the pot to get cash for bus fare! I just need to decide what my sealed pot is going to be! (I can't find my terramundi pot). I think I will be sensible with my target for next year and will set this for £777.
  • Hello all

I joined this thread mid way through last year but things went wrong moneywise so I had no money to go into the sealed pot. :( I would like to join again this year and aim for £300 if that's ok. I want to use this for next Christmas.

    I already have a number.

Is it ok to start a holding pot which I have been reading about for the next round or is that cheating.

Welcome Mrs Cheshire, Purple Angel and Heyjude2013  our sargeant major Sue-UU will be along shortly to award you your very own sealed pot challenge number, which is yours for the rest of time :D She will ask you to pop it on your signature (go to green bar at top, select quick links, edit signature) and also ask you to read post 1 which I am assured contains lots of information like pot opening day, what can be included in your pot etc oh and our very favourite thing 'ROADKILL'! we love roadkill here :D:D

The very delightful Sparky is the keeper of the spreadsheet and asks that should you need to remove any money from your pot over the year that you pop the amount next to your SPC number on your signature so it doesn't get lost come count up day.

The debt free board moves very quickly so you might want to subscribe to the thread, which is done by selecting thread tools on the green bar at the top then subscribe to thread. You will then be able to find us under the quick links tab under subscribed threads :D

Hello parsniphead, it's good to see you're back and ready to start again. I've taken note of your No and added your Target to it, lets hope you have a better year this time around. :)

Your £777 Target is now on the list, Flat Eric, I've a feeling you'll meet that. ;)

I know the pressure that comes from kiddies, mommyof4, but your Christmas Tree up ALREADY!!! As you say though, as soon as Christmas is over you'll soon want it gone, but I bet your kiddies are all wound up and ready now, bless em. :A:A:A:A Let's hope your cat can now soon recover and you won't need to fork out for expensive Vet bills.

Very good savings, Kerry! Oh decisions decisions eh...how about covering Somerset today...then dropping in for a cuppa and a share out?! :grinheart NO? Oh well, worth a try. ;)

I just saw your post in time, jakes-mum, a lovely well-informed welcome, very nice indeed and for that you get a gold star :staradmin

You're welcome, purple angel, but don't forget to pop it on your siggy!
Is it ok to start a holding pot which I have been reading about for the next round or is that cheating.

Hi again, parsniphead. I was washing up just now and suddenly remembered you having asked this question - and me not having answered you! :o

Many apologies to you, and no it most certainly is NOT cheating! This was brought in as sadly, a lot of members were finding they were potting cash so fast without thinking they might need some for things. It then upset them as they then needed to break into their pots for things they'd forgotten to keep change out for.

So, if you have change perhaps on a Monday, it makes far more sense to put it into a 'holding pot' just in case you need it ie for the youngsters, parking or anything else - then later in the week - put what's left into your Sealed Pot so you know it can stay in there and, with luck, won't be touched any more.

It's certainly not cheating though. If anything, it's safeguarding your money. So, you pop it in there for X amount of days or until the end of the week/month and THEN put it away and possibly get ready to the same with the next lot you get.

Don't forget to put the 'holding pot/purse' in a very safe place! ;)
