Might seem a daft question...but... where do you all get these coins from day in day out? I do tend to carry cash in my purse but keep it for anything I might need that I wasn't prepared for, such as milk bread etc, poppy appeal blah blah blah.
Don't want to pot all my change cos it leaves me with none for 'just in case'. Just wondering if people have any specific processes/rules?

Sunday is my day for potting. I tend to go through my purse and empty all coins other than a small float I keep back for bus fare etc. I also raid my OH's wallet :rotfl:

I'm also saving 5p, 50p and £2 coins so if I get any coins of these denomination then I try not to spend them and they immediately get potted. I've got a box for my 1p and 2p coins so in my sealed pot I'm only saving, 10p coins, 20p coins and £1 coins (oh and notes). I have count up pots for my 50p coins (currently £10) and my 5p coins (currently over £10) and I have yet to find a home for my £2 coins.

This week I argued with the supermarket so got 25p back on some fruit that the label said was on offer except the offer had expired but they still had the signs up (and still had them up the day after !) and someone kindly left 1p in the self service check out so I will look after that for them. :rotfl: This week I should get my bus fare free so I will pot the money from that and also the money I save when I don't pay the rival bus company to take me into town. No roadkill for me for a little while - must try harder !

I don't have a number yet but I kicked off yesterday with £1.

I do have some in there, but I am not counting so that when I do open it up its a surprise. I am only adding £2, £1 and 50p's to my jar as I give all my smaller spare change to my daughter who is 5. She saves it in her piggy bank and we save it up for her to spend on holiday.

ETA that we are saving for a trip to Bluestone in 2015. Its one of our favourite places.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

I potted a £2 coin, so that rounds up the missing £2 and bagged up. Any more £2 coins will go towards next years savings.
Only another 3 bags to sort. lol
I'm away for a few days, back on Thursday.
Be good and save hard. :D

  • Had a lovely day in Manchester today. Promised to take DD1 so took her and 2 friends and my mum. Also met my nephew who goes to uni there.

Didn't buy anything except food. Gave DD 30p to use the toilet at the station:eek:. She waited until we got home and like a well trained potter she put it in my pot.
