Hmmm, I live in the country, and my nearest jobs are a 20 mile round trip. So are you saying that, if I have one job on, I can't undertake it if it pays less than £9 as I'll be making a loss?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

BG, is this true mate? It's just that I do quite a bit of travelling for my MS jobs and, consequently, accrue a lot of mileage, which is tax deductible.
I'm not undertaking any tax avoidance or tax evasion, all my mileage claims are just for MS jobs, so if I was audited, would I get fined?
Oh you'd be fine there, we all do some miles in this job but deliberately taking jobs you will lose money on to reduce your tax liability is definitely a red flag at a tax audit.0 -
May I just point out our happy friend is, how shall I say this?
Known to be wrong on quite a few points of tax law, take that advice at your own risk.0 -

You can get the same money off your bill with a voucher and forget the reporting if you want a new MF pizza.0 -

Hi
I was just generally commenting on the supermarket and meal comments. The pizza isn't available in my area at all - I don't even know which company you all refer to. I just noticed that there was quite an aggressive recruitment going on over the last few weeks, and thought that may account for the lower fee jobs flying away
A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work0 -
I'm still a little lost with this then...Are you saying that no one at all should take this MF pizza job as it is makes a loss and that is against HMRC guidelines. Even if I'm not claiming any mileage at all due to being in the area on other work it will still make a loss no matter what.
No, you know fine well what I am saying.0 -
the fact you started the previous sentence with. ill get flamed for this... proves you know exactly what you are doing and that it is wrong, but youre #onbenefitsandproud ?0

Totally agree.
I joined MF, my first MS firm, after seeing an online advert in the local newspaper's website; but it was most definitely aimed at students.
If I was a student, as you say, I'd perhaps snatch up the low paid MF jobs. Free food, a small fee and cheap beans and pasta from the local foreign supermarket0 -
