Quick question for all you Scot's but has anyone carried multiple eye test shops? I have spoken to the NHS and they have said you can only have one eye test a year...has anyone else had any experience of this?

The NHS will only PAY for a single eye test a year if you are in a risk group, otherwise it is every 2 years. If you want to have a Private eye test you could have them weekly if you like, as it has nothing to do with NHS. You pay the firm the fee which is anything from £35 to £40 depending on the firm.

Most MS firms will insist you do not visit the same chain any more than annually.

Not sure what the attraction of doing a load of eye visits in any one year would be. Gone of the days when it was a simple eye test and you read a chart - you now have a picture of your eyes taken, a test checking for glaucoma and another one checking your eye movements - its bad enough if you have to have done without doing it as a MS..

The fee, but not the one MF tries to pay.

I got told off by MF on this years visits. The pictures they take I have always had them done and always been paid. However, this year for one of them they threw in the eye test because I paid for the pictures of the eye. So, MF said it was not part of the eye test so we are not paying. I did argue though it did fit into the reimbursement and has always been paid for the last three years. They did however, pay up another about 4 weeks and told me to not accept this in the future because they are not paying again.

On another note. I have had an email from TNS this morning. On last weeks visits I got told off for not putting the full figure from my receipt into mercury last week during expenses. Today I received another email telling me to not put the full figure in as I had over claimed expenses and it is not allowed and it has been adjusted.

What do you put in on mercury when you do a job?

who are all the bad video shoppers giving poor reports then...
people trying to cash in on higher paying jobs not realising you cant do what some here openly admit to doing with mf and other companies and make things up and write what you want if there is a video recording ?!?

Who's that for then? It happened a couple of years ago, people thought they could do video jobs with those little pens or glasses cams, there's still people here who'll give out that advice if asked.

I've just been asked for a retest of my equipment from Tern (I suspect for a new job they have coming up) but not had anything queried from anyone.

I'm as picky with who I video for as they are who they send to do the work.

mce , its even worse than that its people writing reports that dont match the video !
    they sent this

    Hello Video Shoppers.

We’ve just audited the video evaluations for the ******* clients we work with, and noticed the footage and reports are inconsistent i.e. they don’t match up.

The average evaluation is 30 minutes, which we pay £** and up to £** mileage per visit, as we’re paying well, we’d appreciate professional and accurate reporting.

Before undertaking anymore ********** evaluations for us, please watch the following 4 minute training video, as it highlights the key areas to monitor.

If you’re ever unsure of an evaluation or report, then please call me, remember you can always watch your footage back for accuracy

Not good, they can't even be bothered to refer to the footage taken to compile the report!

So now the small blue fast supermarkets are gone - probably the first mystery shop I've ever did! Not the same though since the mileage allowance for these visits was removed without a word to shoppers a few years ago though!
