I applied through the job centre for retail maxim ,got an email saying my application had been accepted ....that was 2 weeks ago have not had any communication since
    Is this normal?
Hey. I signed up to them online not at the job centre but if it makes you feel better they don't actually give newbies a sign-in for their job site until they build up a rep with them and carry out at least two-three jobs. The best thing to do is give them a call and see if they have anything in your area...it's worked for me...hope that helps:o

When I joined RM, it was weeks before I was offered any work with them and all my jobs, so far, have been offered by either an e-mail or a phone call.

Although, I have just been given my login details so I can now self assign via their website.

No mention in email that i had to do either of the above ....it says i have placed on their records ,first booking will be by telephone ..thats what i have been waiting for
Ps not waiting to be spoon fed - not a mind reader either

Cool, give them a ring and ask them to send you details to log on to their site, they may want you to prove yourself with a couple of selected jobs first, they normally send out emails to say when jobs have been loaded or if there are any jobs they need completing in a hurry.

Where are you in the country as this will have quite an impact on the amount of jobs you may get.

An unfortunate trend that has been inherited from people like tractorwoman, Josie, monkeyboy et al.

If you are a recognised name on the board your questions are responded to courteously. If you are not recognised then the response is either "read the first page" or a rude and sarcastic put down.

Maybe WeeGraeme would be a better name, because bullies usually are wee men trying to act big.

I look forward to your contribution to this thread then.
  • Quick question for all you Scot's but has anyone carried multiple eye test shops? I have spoken to the NHS and they have said you can only have one eye test a year...has anyone else had any experience of this?

For MF jobs you get reimbursed for a private test fee, you pay for a private test.

    Easy jobs

Would be even easier if I spoke Arabic :rotfl:
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

I tend to say I wasn't happy with my last NHS test, and willing to pay for another, or I'm experiencing headaches and that seems to give you an excuse for paying for a private test. Be careful if you are visiting a few shops of the same company, some of the databases are visible in more than one shop! Good Luck.
