No mention of timings but I think that could be because I've started 'reconfirming' the timings in the final comment box also (one of the previous email requests for reconfirmation of timings suggested doing this to prevent reconfirmation requests!).

No option to ignore it unfortunately, replied to first two questions but received an email asking again for confirmation of my appearance. They say it's for internal use only and wont be passed on to the client but I don't see how they are going to use it internally and have asked as much.

They were pretty slow at taking my order but fast once they had the order so it looks to me like they are trying to find an excuse to discredit me. I wrote a fair report and didn't penalise them for the waiting time as it was busy but they were just plain slow at serving the customers in front, which isn't my fault.

I've said I'm happy to answer specific queries regarding the visit or the report but asked them to explain what specific query requires my appearance to be confirmed.

Perhaps I'm just being too paranoid after reading about the experiences of others on these threads :(

I told them once that my description had no bearing whatsoever on my report or timings. I've never confirmed my description or my car details, but I totally appreciate your concerns.

Confirming your timings in the final comments box is a great idea. Since I started doing this, I can't remember the last time I had an e-mail from them asking for timing confirmations.

I very rarely get emails to confirm the timings but had a spate of 2 recently and noticed they'd started putting a note in the email suggesting to do the reconf in the final comments box - am guessing they are concerned that you may have slipped with the mouse in the drop down boxes so having you type them in gives that extra check in case of that. Why they don't just instruct you to do so in the brief to save the hassle of the 'reply within 12 hours or else' emails I don't know!

I did try to argue initially about my appearance not having any bearing on my report and reminding them they've got the time I went in, out, how long to order and get meal plus the time on the receipt which I reported as accurate - if that doesn't give them enough info to identify me I'm not sure what does! Just got the 'you must respond to all questions from the mystery shopping company answer'.

Ah well, in that case, I suppose you best answer their request

    Dear Ms Woolley,

I am contacting you as President of Frontline Focus about the urgent matter of payment in the mystery shopper account #1*****.

Last November and December I completed three [client name] mystery shops for your company – in each case it was confirmed that I would be paid, yet no payment has been received. The total outstanding is £**.**. I have, since 3rd January, been involved in a long string of correspondence with your staff – first with Branden Day, then with Carrie-Ann Kroll. My emails have generally been ignored, promises to get back to me broken, or I have been given false claims that payment is being processed.

Please note that, following prior warning, I have today applied late payment charges and interest of £**.** – meaning the sum now owed is £**.**. If this sum is not paid in full within seven days, formal legal action will be taken against your company – which will result in further fees and charges being applied to this.

Please note that I am aware of a significant number of similar cases, in which UK-based individuals carried out mystery shopping for Frontline Focus and have not been paid. In the absence of any evidence to the contrary, it would appear to me that your company is carrying out a criminal scam, with no intention whatsoever of paying people for work completed. I am presently compiling a dossier, with a view to informing law enforcement agencies and the media about your company.

I loo forward to your urgent response in this matter.

    Regards,
    ********

I've just come on to ask which company they're referring to, I searched too and couldn't find anything.

If you know a site (a certain burger company) know you as the mystery shopper? Do you play along with it? There is a site which is in a large town centre and clearly there is enough shoppers around but no one ever shops it, (hence always a decent premium) because as soon as you say the word receipt all hell breaks fire. Even a customer asked me if I was a mystery shopper. As the duty manager approached me 3 separate times as I ate to check everything was okay and then apologized as he said the manager is paranoid. I then said you can get me a free cup of tea in which he accepted and then I said no worries I was only joking. But if I fed that back then I would be banned from the site. It's a joke about time there was more variety and less predictability in orders. What would you do in this situation?
