Once they dig their heels in they won't back down. Was it a reimbursement job?

Oh great! No it was just a small fee- a pittance job, but seeing as I have had double the hassle with this job I would like to get paid. I KNEW I shouldn't have bothered accepting it. The company they are working for is not v genuine, so I not surprised it went pear-shaped.

Dont they have two types of workers ie 'casuals' and and audit team who get more regular work? I only see whats on the board but have seen adverts for auditors who can do regular hours.

It would be nice if GFK sent out a newsletter occasionally with news and updates to associates as I always feel I am dealing with a 'machine' as you never get any communication from them.

Some of it is stuff that NOP cant cover that they offer to the likes of us Gfk shoppers.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

I always dress so as to blend in. Even if you can't always tell from looking at a person if he is loaded or not, it may make you stand out.

It's a fair point. I know a couple of millionaires you'd never know if you meet either of them in the street, and one of them is scruffier than me. :rotfl:

Looking comfortable in your surroundings matters far more than dressing up.

Just remember it next time they offer travel expenses ;)

I'm with you on this one. I do a lovely, regular, monthly overt audit for GfK. Every time I visit, the manager asks me if I want a tea or coffee, and every time I say no. He's a really nice bloke but I'd never put myself in any compromising position that could undermine my report and threaten payment of my, rather nice premium.

When I was a VAT inspector accepting an offer of a tea or coffee when visiting a trader would not be considered as putting that officer in a compromising position at all. It's basic common courtesy and allowed in the code of conduct.

To be honest I doubt it would have even crossed the manager's mind that his quite trivial offer of basic hospitality would be construed as a bribe and would likely be highly offended or embarrassed if that was ever put to him.

Which is why I said about dependant on services. You're scenario is very different to a mystery shopper assessing a restaurant for quality / timings and ASKING for a free drink, even in jest.
I've accepted a drink before if I have a wait for a particular person or thing but generally I keep drinks and food away from working time unless I'm being paid to assess them.

But when it also says it in the brief, then I'm certainly not going to jeopardise my premium by accepting a cup of tea :)

After the hassle with appearance confirmation from Gap the other day and non payment again this week, they're now phoning me to help out with an 'urgent' assignment this weekend. Do love the way they are always keen to phone when there's a job to fill but ignore you when you enquire where your payment is after they've failed to pay again.

The recent payment problems are starting to feel like there's a cash flow problem to me and make me hesitant to take on another job this month, even for a good premium, as that just increases my exposure to them for next month.

I think I will give the React hospital catering a miss. Three fifths of the fee would go in car parking fees as you have to use the hospital car park. Fee seems low too me as the report sounds long....

I know what you mean, I have applied for just one which I know has a 60p per 2 hours multi-storey about 5 minutes walk away.
