I do do High End shops and wear the clothes I did when I worked in the City. Which was handy as one mos checked out the shoes I was wearing and got very warm and friendly when she realised they were the brand they were. Other's glom in on the (also top end) bag with the same results.
I suspect that the guideline is there so you don't stand out and do fit in as a normal customer for that type of shop.
I always dress so as to blend in. Even if you can't always tell from looking at a person if he is loaded or not, it may make you stand out. I do have posh clothes for other work anyway.
I also do some overt audits were posh clothes are required by the clent anyway.0 -

Wondered when that was coming.
Had an 'urgent' request from them today to confirm whether a description they've given resembles me - what stance does everyone else normally take with this?0 -
The 2nd is not bad, if they make it. That's only a week out and I'm better with that than the 3 weeks or so we had last time.0

*if* they make it0

I've only ever had this sort of request when they also want to confirm my timings.
So what I do is confirm my timings and simply ignore any request to confirm my description.0 -
I had one a few months ago when they asked me to confirm if the colour of the car and number plate was correct. I did confirm this received payment and I'm still doing DT visits for them.0

No mention of timings but I think that could be because I've started 'reconfirming' the timings in the final comment box also (one of the previous email requests for reconfirmation of timings suggested doing this to prevent reconfirmation requests!).
No option to ignore it unfortunately, replied to first two questions but received an email asking again for confirmation of my appearance. They say it's for internal use only and wont be passed on to the client but I don't see how they are going to use it internally and have asked as much.
They were pretty slow at taking my order but fast once they had the order so it looks to me like they are trying to find an excuse to discredit me. I wrote a fair report and didn't penalise them for the waiting time as it was busy but they were just plain slow at serving the customers in front, which isn't my fault.
I've said I'm happy to answer specific queries regarding the visit or the report but asked them to explain what specific query requires my appearance to be confirmed.
Perhaps I'm just being too paranoid after reading about the experiences of others on these threads

If it resembles you, admit it. If it doesn't, don't volunteer anything.
ok thanks - done that
They owe me a good chunk of money in payments this month and next so don't want to do anything to jeopardise that, however I'll think twice next time when they call up asking to help fill urgent visits with this and the recent payment shenanigans.0
