So if I were to open a shop close to a shop that you already run, selling the same products etc, you would be fine giving me a list of your biggest customers so that I could attempt to poach them?
My business is myself, I am a company, who I get the most work from and the best jobs is my trade secret. What you divulge is up to you but its somewhat naïve to think that it will not harm your business.
There is no harm at all in helping people, that's what this thread is for, however, there is a line. Giving information on which are the best companies is not only wrong but totally misleading. A lot of you on here work for GAP, only any good if you like burgers, a lot work for react, no use to me as they have nothing in my area. Different people for different jobs in different areas. To say anything other than here's a list of companies some will work for you some won't and the only way to find out is to try them. To say read page 1 and apply to them all is the best advice you can give any newbie0 -

Can I suggest you read my post again, I never said these are the best companies to work for, I said these are the companies that give me the most work, that's all, nothing more, nothing less. If Bethem lives near me, then I've upped my competition, so be it. I won't lose any sleep over it.
You're not prepared to help any newbie beyond, "Read page 1". If you're so worried about competition then why have a list of MS companies on page 1. In fact, why have an alert page, surely that's even more damaging to 'your' business?
If you don't like the fact that I'm prepared to help newbies beyond "Read Page 1" then sorry but I won't lose any sleep over that either.0 -
Good morning!
I am feeling philosophical.
As I drink my tea I am pondering on how bonuses for bosses at our semi state owned banks have risen by 10% and more, and how pay for an MS bank job has sunk by almost 30% over the last year.
Supply and demand? An object lesson on capitalism in practice?
Another cup of tea I think.arghhh!!!0 -

Don't get me started on bank bosses, when you think back on just how many scandals they've been involved in; endowment policies, libor, ppi, yet they keep doing it and getting away with it, how they've not been banged up is a mystery.
Enjoy your tea:)0 -
Maybe you should read mine again as at no point did I say I would not help beyond read this first post! You carry on doing what you like and I will do the same thanks0

most newbies are treated like some sort on leper, with the rather blunt, "Read Page 1" reply being the usual response.
Most of the time it is obvious they haven't bothered to read the information supplied as that would have answered their questions, after all what is the title of this thread?
Now when they come back and ask questions where they have read the information here then they usually get treated better.0 -
I am more than happy to help people out as best I can, my list is most certainly not exhaustive. TBH, on this forum, most newbies are treated like some sort on leper, with the rather blunt, "Read Page 1" reply being the usual response.
I think Sunny_spell's and Larac's replies hit the nail on the head; I don't think by helping out a newbie, beyond the, "Read Page 1" reply, I have damaged my, or anyone else's, future MS prospects.
But perhaps be a bit more careful if you know someone is in your area. I used to do a lot for Grassroots and mentioned it to one of my friends. She signed up and I wasn't offered another job from them for 2 years, which coincided with her moving to America. I am now really careful about what information I give.0 -
I am hesitant to answer newbies until I have seen a few messages as we all know staff do join this website to find out details of mystery shops but that is my only reason.0

No one knows that I MS. I've not told my family and I've certainly not told any friends. As far as they're all concerned, I've retired.
I appreciate staff may try to find particular job details but I find these people stand out a mile. However, I am more than happy to help newbies with more than the usual, "Read page 1" response.0 -
When I started on this forum I had already signed up with a few different companies.
Then when I got on here I read the first page and the list of companies, but before signing up for any I read a few other posts about most of them and then picked some that would seem to suit me and the areas I visit - as well as have a good reputation.
I am doing quite well now and even do other stuff than mystery shopping for some comapanies as well, though no scheduling or things like that.
If it wasn't for these threads and the informations shared here it would not only have taken me longer to get to where I am today, but I would probably have lost money on bad jobs.
So thanks for all who post, share and help here!0
