I would concur with what's been said that you need to register with several and then you can more easily build up a worth while trip in the same area. Some agencies seem to go off the 'grid' for a while. Not had anything from GR for two months and ESA in the run up to Xmas and new year were really dire. Not had anything from RM for a while either but not sure whether they have got their preferred shoppers list. Assosia seem to be a good backup when things are quiet as you never know what they are going to send out and they seem to pop up with regularity.

I'm not MSing full time but since April 13 I've completed assignments for 21 different MSC so the more you are registered with the more assignments are available.

I am registered with 44 different companies and have done jobs for 18, and regularly do jobs for 14 of those, so it definitely pays to sign up with several.

I am quite often able to group two or three different visits together within one single area making each city quite a bit more worthwhile

WOW, 44 is impressive even if you have not yet shopped for them all. I have only manged 15 registrations. I shall have to try harder.

So my question is, which other MS companies would you recommend? There are so many out there I don't want to waste my time applying if they all turn out to not be so good...

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Bethem,

As people have said, the more you are registered with the better. The ones I've done most work for are:

ABAi
BARE
Douglas Stafford
ESA
GAP
GfK
Market Force
REACT
Retail Active
Retail Maxim
TERN
TNS

There are probably plenty more out there but, like I've said, these are the ones I've done most of my work with.

I would pretty much say these above are your bread and butter, invest time in the thread, see who people are talking about, see who people are alerting about. You get a feel for where the work is and maybe even types of work.

You get out what you put in...

Does anyone know when RA actually pay you. I did some work early part of Jan and not received payment thus far. Is this the 'norm' as only joined this agency at the beginning part of the year. I seemed to have done a number of their small jobs over the month as 'infill' between other jobs and the small amounts are starting to add up. My presumption is that they are on a 6/8 week pay cycle...

I'm not sure even RA know when they pay you - or for what! The never give a breakdown and the sums never add up to what you think you are owed (in mine and other's experiences). I DO know that the pay will be from 'Sequantial Solutions'.

I'm still owed a bunch of payments and expenses from December.

I have a RA payment pending for Mon 17 Feb. It's for their small supermarket jobs and one of their pub visits. As usual with them, I have payment outstanding for jobs I completed before these ones.

I really don't know how they schedule their payments.

Check carefully that RA pay you the correct amount. They are the only company that I've had to put straight and request additional payments from, as they regularly 'forget' to pay expenses.

I am missing payment for the small supermarkets, DIY shops, tile shops and a large computer store. I'll have to see what turns up in the bank account on Monday.
