I've got 2 RA's coming into the account on Monday and from the amounts one is a small supermarket and the other one is electronics.

[FONT=&quot]I am registered with 44 different companies and have done jobs for 18, and regularly do jobs for 14 of those, so it definitely pays to sign up with several.

Wow! 44 is very impressive, I clearly need to get cracking and sign up with several more! Thank you all for your advice.

Just for the record I had read post one, but as it was a very long list I was after some top recommendations, which I got so thanks a lot!

    Off to get registering... :T
  • Boy thing's have changed on this thread.

Back in the day it was if a newbie asked which companies were best, they were told to look on first page, check alerts or to figure it out, as nobody is going to make it easy to potentially take work away from somebody who has worked hard on finding the best companies themselves.

Now lists are freely given, lol!

Sorry! :o To be honest I did expect some more controversial replies...

Perhaps because I'm not technically a newbie? I'm a few years in, I just needed some tips re other companies.
  • Why are you sorry? You have done nothing wrong.

I was merely stating things had changed.

  • I agree, there are so many nice and helpful MSs here. Personally I am not worried about my work potentially being taking away by new/old MSs because the gaps between visits are for a reason. I cannot do all of them all the time, can I? For example, phone shops on TNS can be done only twice a year (6 months gap), frozen shops on ESA - 3 times a year, beds on RM - once a year. They will come and go in the waves and if I was not quick enough to get them, that's not the end of the world for me, I will get them next time.

As for the audits and other types of jobs that cannot be named, I would do my best to get them and complete them as requested. It has taken me few months to establish that kind of work with the companies and now I get few regular offers which I am grateful for.

I think this was a good post as you have made some very valid points. Alot of companies do have restrictions so you can't go with everything thats on the board and agree if you don't get it in one wave you likely to pick it up on the next. Sometimes you need to 'sack' yourself as there is a strong risk your get identified if you shop the same place too many times. How many times can you pitch up in your local towns travel agents/banks/phone shops etc. The key seems to be to join a number of agencies so you get a mix of work so that when one agency dries up or restricted there are others to chose from.

I would imagine for mystery shopping assignments clients will welcome a fresh pair of eyes. If they get the same people doing the evaluations they might as well use in house staff.

I am more than happy to help people out as best I can, my list is most certainly not exhaustive. TBH, on this forum, most newbies are treated like some sort on leper, with the rather blunt, "Read Page 1" reply being the usual response.

I think Sunny_spell's and Larac's replies hit the nail on the head; I don't think by helping out a newbie, beyond the, "Read Page 1" reply, I have damaged my, or anyone else's, future MS prospects.
