Should you do that for the ones where there is a credit check?
Don't see why not. One of the scenarios in the past said you shouldn't have any outstanding credit except the mortgage...but I do...I have credit cards and loans. These all would have shown up on a credit check. Anyway they rang me and especially requested I do these jobs urgently so I had to make up names as I couldn't use the same name in half a dozen different branches as the computer would have known it was me 6 times over applying for a mortgage. I'm not having credit searches on my credit file for that. If I were to apply for credit another bank would look at it and assume I was really desperate or had somehow gone mad that day.

Are you Ok? All my made up names got a decision in principle...i.e they all got basic approval for a mortgage based on the credit check and the information I provided being truthful...which it wasn't of course. Even my own mortgage years ago was approved without me ever having credit and never being on the electoral roll. At the time I never even had a UK bank account. It can happen. To complete the purchase I had to provide ID for the funds to be released.

    The phone shops?

That doesn't catch me out nearly as often as the old company's requirement to note eye-colour did. I must be terrible at eye contact because I could NEVER remember that. :rotfl:

I always found it funny that after staring at someone's face for nearly an hour on one of those jobs, I had no idea whatsoever what colour eyes he had or what his hair colour/style was. I had to go back and keep sneaking past the door to see if I could get another glimpse of him - he'd have thought he was being stalked if he'd seen me doing it!

The worst thing for me is estimating people's height, I have no idea - anyone got any tips on that?

The height one is tricky, I mentally compare them to myself and people I know. I'm 5' 5" so I know that's their height if they're the same height as me, if they're a little bit taller they could be 5' 7". For taller people I imagine whether they are taller or shorter than my husband, who is 5' 11" and adjust accordingly. It can only ever be approximate though, unless you whip out a yardstick and then they might get suspicious!
