I have a BT email address but no longer have broadband from them. I think I probably deleted their email after my holiday when I had loads to delete....have a Sky email too, but have always used BT one and haven't changed anything over.
I was just going to add my BT email address to my dad's broadband account but it asks for a reference number off the email.....any way round this?
Tried to ring BT but they're very very busy!

Even if you deleted' the email, it may still be sitting in your 'trash' folder - it often shows that it is empty, but if you click on it, there are usually emails sitting in it. I haven't phoned BT since 1997, they never answered their phone then, and from what I hear, they haven't changed their policy!!

I have a btinternet and a btopenworld email addy that both come through one bt yahoo account, but I also have several btyahoo.co.uk email addresses that I set up through their spam guard as disposable email addresses - my question is if I pay the £1.60 a month will these disposable email addys still work or are btyahoo email addys going?
Maybe setup some new temporary spam email addresses as part of the 11 email addresses you get with paid for BT Premium Mail.

Just to confirm that you won't be able to keep the Yahoo disposable addresses.

Not directly linked to the OP, but probably indirectly linked as part of BT's general reorganisation of email, they are moving away from Yahoo, and since the current disposables are yahoo addresses, you won't keep them.

I believe this applies to all BT customers, not just those whose accounts are being switched off and moving to the £1.60 option.

From here:
http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44789/~/we%27re-changing-bt%27s-portal-and-email-services
Will I be able to keep my disposable email addresses?

Some BT Yahoo! Mail customers use disposable email addresses (sometimes called aliases). Although you'll be able to create disposable email address with the new BT Mail service, it won't be possible to move your existing ones over to it. If this affects you, we'll get in touch nearer the time to let you know what to do.

Just move to a web-based account like gmail; hotmail or Yahoo all have very good spam filters.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Received this email today at 6:30pm to one of my BT email accounts.

My other BT email accounts have not received this email, so assume BT are in process of sending out email to the many accounts, which can take days.
Important update about your email account

Hello,

We wrote to you recently about some changes to your email service that were due to happen on 16 September 2013.

We won't now be making those changes on 16 September. Due to the high volume of demand we've had, we've decided to extend the time our customers have to choose their options. We're also taking the opportunity to make this process quicker and easier and we're sorry if you've had trouble getting through to us.

In the meantime, your email will carry on working. (Even if you haven't done anything.)

Don't worry, we'll be in touch
We hope you continue to enjoy using your email and we'll be in touch again when we need you to do something.

Already given us your choice?
If you've already told us how you'd like to keep your email address, don't worry, your email address is safe.

If you've not already heard from us, we're working on your request and we'll email you to confirm.

Find out more about our email changes.

Thanks.

Warren Buckley
Managing Director, Customer Service

Not surprising, as it's impossible to get through to anybody at BT who knows what's really going on.

It only says that they're extending the time, not cancelling the changes.

So, in a few months time when they do finally change over, you'll be sitting smug whilst others rush round like headless chickens. :)
Move along, nothing to see.

I suppose so Spud. I shouldn't really care now that I've moved everything (or at least I think I have). At least it will give me chance to spot any "stragglers" I've missed for a while. It's just really bad how BT have handled this though.
• help I'm not very computer savvy - I have a bt.openworld.com which I understand I will lose or pay to keep but my son has a username@yahoo.com account, is this safe or does it come under bt???
