Will my email address remain the same (xxx@talk21.com) for the next 12 months as I have no email from BT since August? When do I need to migrate to the premium service, 30th September 2013 or 16th September 2014?

I need to create a new email address for a few people therefore which company is best to do this with?

It's almost always a bad idea to use the ISP's email service for important stuff. Makes it harder to change the ISP in the future. Get an email address with GMail, Yahoo, Outlook etc. or better get your own domain...

Can you answer any of my other questions?

How do you get your own domain??

Not really, I'm neither with BT nor TT.

There are many companies which sell you domains with an email service like this one

• Bumping this, as it seems the time has come. April 14th is the deadline to secure your Email address, if you are no longer a BT Customer (but still use a btinternet/btopenworld email account):

After the screw up they made last year, I'm waiting till the lights are virtually switched off on this one. I know of people who were conned into paying monthly to maintain their email address, then BT changed their mind about closing 'talk21', and then REFUSED to let these people out of an annual contract!

Are BT really closing accounts tomorrow because I know of quite a few people using talk21.com email addresses who have not been contacted about the 14th April 2014 deadline?
• Good catch on the 'phishing email'. If others are in fear of being caught out by this type of email, I would suggest you install one of the FREE anti- virus programs which have a built in 'phishing email' alert. The one I use is Avast Free, but there are many others available too. Please don't be conned into paying for one...

Good catch on the 'phishing email'.
The OP wasn't a phishing or spoof email - it turned out to be real.

However BT did relent and didn't kill off email addresses as quickly as they'd planned in the original email.

There was a post published just previous to the one I then posted in response. It reported a 'phishing' email, but unfortunately, I didn't 'quote' it in my response, and the poster then deleted it - very frustrating!
