I just cannot believe you have done all that for them and they are treating you like this.

Maybe its just me but I would keep hold of stuff and donations until this has been sorted and if you don't get the kittens give it to another branch of the CPL. Does that sound too harsh?
Crossed my mind tbh but the branches have loads of kitties all in different places and the whole point was to help them out . I don't want to look like Im holding them to ransom if you know what I mean ? The kitten shower was a compromise coz the kids wanted a kitty christening lol ! Not sure how my kiddies ended up so strange

You would still be helping all the kitties out just in a different area :) And no I wouldn't hold them to ransom, I wouldn't even mention it but after the decision has been made and finalised you won't need to have anything to do with them. Personally I just couldn't hand all that over to them knowing how I had been treated but maybe thats just me. No need to decide anything yet, hopefully it wont come to that, just enjoy your shower, sounds like great fun.
  • Ok, so BoP is going to interject here and I suppose will get some criticism for being so. I have issues with the reason that stray, feral cats, are looked upon, by some people, and in some cases, CP as monetary items, ok an adoption fee? I have the following questions though.

The cats were born in the wild, as the mother had been seen in the area on numerous occasions, yet was friendly to humans. As a queen, she probably has had one litter a year for her tenure on this earth. When she reaches about 7 years, she will pass on. As for her young, like the hunter killers they are to become, some will be lucky and survive, and other probably die in the process of trying to do so. This happens without our intervention. Yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Now I am minded of my younger days, and the fat tray, dripping and bread going to the cats at nana. The queens and toms would devour such delightful offerings nightly, without recourse to a wanting of human intervention. Safe in the knowledge the litter was always between 6 and 8 cats, granddad sometimes would go out and feed them as well.

As for the vermin and rat populace in the dykes and lanes and barn, this was kept low, and in most circumstances, they were ridden by the pride of cats.

The same would happen with this litter!

So my question is, if owner wanted a cat, and granddad did offer a few in the locality, when they were available. (See if you had not read to this point, you would had thought something else?).
Now as for CP and the others. Their rescuing has removed from the pool, replacement cats in the area. The one cat that may had died before long, the weak one from the litter? Maybe he will not survive in the unintended environment as well. But the ecology of the cat populace has now been reduced by the intervention of the self glorified upholders of cat lore. Somewhere, the kitten that could had survived would replace another feral stray that had suffered.

So, man (Not PC is BoP) by intervening in their perceived way, has damaged the ecology!
  • I do hope you get the result we are all wanting flosspot. You have done so brilliantly so far and there reasoning has been ridiculous at times

I would be considering using the donations to buy extra kitty stuff as opposed to giving them the cash. I may be out of line or totally off the mark but after the way they have handled the whole mama cat and baby kitty situation I would not trust them to use the donation as you intend. Is there a protocol for donations in place that stops them buying stuff for the staff (new tassimo machine and biscuits for example) rather than using it to help care for the cats and kittens?

Thanks x It isn't only me that would class a classic old morris minor in the suburbs of Glasgow as " the wild " then :rotfl:
Many apologies for my help in destroying ecological system ,however I would like to point out in my defence the rescue kitten is very adapt at catching mice ( albeit of the wind up toy variety !)

  • As I said I would expect some response. Thank you.

I am pleased, as my granddad did, provide care for some litters, as has happened with the kitten.

My concern is that CP, through their glorified existance, would hunt the queen and rescue her, only for her to be too aged/wild/untame to be rehoused and then extinguished. If left in the wild, can survive naturally. And CP, through this, would expect donations of such, to carry on their ethnic cleansing and breeding?

I am very pleased to say BOP , that Queen ( aka Mama cat ) has not been ethnically cleansed or extinguished . She has however been spayed and returned to the environment from which she came, to live a long ( hopefully ) happy feline existence albeit a wee bit more pampered than she is used too.

  • Blackbeard, I have absolutely no idea at all of what you are on about!
Now back to the task in hand. Ok, maybe not best if dozens of MSE users start bombarding the FB page, but how about one or two carefully chosen comments from a couple of people invited to the kitty shower?
'ooh, we are all looking forward to donating and ongoing support for wonderful CP Blahblah Town, for the help in caring for 2 kitties and mum before being reunited at their new home. Would love to see pictures of the two kitties and cant wait to see them all together again'
  • Thanks floss spot.

Thank you BOP for taking the time to read & reply. Just a wee thing ( and I'm sorry if I sound pedantic ) I am not Floss Pot , I am ktflosspot ) There will be many reasons for folk picking a user name , mine unfortunately is my daughters wee nickname , sadly 6 years ago she went to play with the angels , I understand you like being a wee bit controversial but a wee bit of thought goes a long way x Totally off topic but sorry , just had to say it x
