It seems we are not able to offer them A "safe outdoor area" . We do not live on a main road but we live too near to one. I thought a 60 x 80 foot secure garden would be good enough but not so. I could do just about anything else , put in a catflap ect but short of moving house I don't think there is anyway these babies are coming home. Money isn't an issue, I'd of paid anything. I guess as long as they are going to be well loved and cared for I should be gratefull but I haven't given up just yet. I'm going to phone HO and have a wee word. Wish me luck !:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.

In better news tho .... Magic is coming on great ! Putting weight on and a lively cheeky wee girl and Mama seems to have settled back in really well , she is eating great and sleeping in the playhouse when it suits her !:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.

Good luck KTFlosspot.
They've allowed you to keep Magic and Mum has the lodge outside so the road wasn't a problem within those decisions. That's set a precedence.
As you are going to be putting food down for the outside cats, they won't stray too far away. Presumably there's plenty of land away from the road.
What about the assertion that these are Your cats not CPL's? Does that work?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Not sure , they probably belonged to the CPL as soon as we handed them over .:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.

Yes, that would make sense.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So after a very unproductive convo with HO we are no further on. It looks like there are 3 hopes of getting our babies back, Bob hope NO hope & envel(h)ope:(
Each local branch has it's own rehoming criteria and if they deem us as not having a sfae outdoor space then there is nowt we can do about it. They have agreed to a home visit but I think that is just to shut me up for a bit really. I'm convinced the babies have already been put aside for someone else ( especially as that is what the foster carer told us , she didn't know about the conversations we had had with the girl that came to get them ! ) I have kept all emails from day one , not sure if it will be any use but I'm gratefull for my laziness at deleting emails now
From day one neither HO of sspca or CPL wanted to help & it took almost 3 weeks for the local branch to get in touch, in that time we took in Magic and fed & kept watch over Mama and babes , I guess we did all we could and the fact they made it I should be grateful for .I really feel like throwing the towel in and just giving up but I can't bring myslf to . I'm going to go through with the sham home visit and hope that if I can sit face to face with who ever it is that decides these things , I may be able to convince them that this is where they belong . Until then , I'm keeping everything crossed and plenty of tissues to hand
I realised this morning that I never posted a pic of the lovely Mama cat , I will try & get one today .
I just want you all to know how much this thread has helped not only with loads of practical advice to get Magic through when I was clueless , but also personally. It's been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster & you guys have been amazing :A:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.

Hello
I have been lurking and reading your thread but not posted until now. Well done on what you have achieved, I think how you are being treated is disgusting.
I have had cats from the CPL and they did a home visit, I don't live close to a main road but they thought the road was too close, however that did not stop them letting me have cats from them, I just had to promised they would be indoor cats.
I suggest you do the same, if they start talking about outside area unsuitable, promise you will keep them in. It is extremely hard for CPL to re-home refal cats (mama would have been with them for ages costing them loads), I notice they did not mention anything about you not taking the kittens until you had safety taken mama away!
Personally I would play dirty and if things did not seem to be going my way, make noises about you only taking mama and agreeing to provide for her as you were having the whole family and felt responsible for her, and if that is not the case you don't feel the same responsibly to mama so might have to return her (not saying you will do, but they don't know that, you could always change your mind again) Also mention that if they really don't think it is an safe environment, what are they going to do about magic, you want the best for her and as much as you would hate to see her go you think the CPL better take her as your home is "unsafe" be very interesting what their reply would be to that!.0 -
How did they explain the fact that they're willing to let you have a different kitten and that where you live would be ok for that one?0

Don't give up!
It is perfectly possible to safely enclose a garden to make it cat proof. there are various companies that do it professionally, or it can be DIY with deer netting and brackets made from heavy duty restraint straps.
We have a whole thread on it over on petforums
http://www.petforums.co.uk/cat-chat/211361-cat-runs-cat-proofed-gardens.html
As I said before....find out exactly what the criteria are for this particular branch of CP in advance of the home visit, and then promise to fulfil all those criteria. Make it VERY clear that you intend to have all of these cats and will be making lots of noise if difficulties are placed in your way.
there is NO WAY that head office can condone 'cherry picking' of particular cats from within their own organisation.0 -
Thanks all , just putting all emails in one file so I had them all together & thought I would add screen shots of the FB posts from day one to day we picked up Mama cat , however the ones mentioning the babies have all been deleted from their page. I so don't want to sound ungrateful for what they have done for Mama and babes and I'm afraid that is how I'm coming across , but the second we had Mama to bring home it's like we don't exsist . We are still having the kitten shower and they will still get all the stuff that's been donated , after all , it would only be the cats that missed out ! Praying for a happy ( and morally right , ending ! )
Please excuse all typos & spelling mistakes .... few wee tears every now & then blurring my vision I'm afraid.
I really am not going to give this up without every ounce of fight I have , I just think I may be fighting a loosing battle xxxxx:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.
