  • Well an unexpected nsd for me today. I did need a few bits on my way home, well actually it must have been a want as I didn't get them. Choice between getting a joining bus within a minute or a few bits of shopping and a 30 minute, well you can tell which won.

Pay slips are on the system at work so can spend this evening working out next months budget.

  • Another nsd today, again not intended but it just happened as I worked late and didn't have time to do any food shopping.
I'm working tomorrow good for the pennies - 6 hours at double time. However nothing in to take to work food wise so shall have to pop to the co-op before work. Not really sure what to buy?

After work it's to mums for a few hours and then food shopping.

By having a few unintentional nsd I have managed to keep £25 in my purse. Going to take £10 out of the bank tomorrow and that should do my food shopping and any other bits and bobs. If the window cleaner comes there may be a need to remove another £10 but hopefully £35 should be enough.

I'm quite amazed as at the beginning of the week I was concerned that what i had left wouldn't be enough to a week on Friday. After spending a grand total of £5.93 in a week I potentially will have £50 remaining (or at worst £40)come pay day.

Monday may be expensive, niece is over, baking!! Got some ingredients in but still have some stuff to get.... Eggs, butter, walnuts, so shall have to do some savvy shopping tomorrow.

Hope you have a great long weekend xx

  • I think you have done fantastically for your first month, honestly I wouldn't have had £50 left at the end of my first MSE month!

Baking needn't be expensive, however I have a fabulous recipe for banana orange and cranberry loaf... Will drop you it over on PM if you like x the older the bananas the better so its great when you have some left over...

Well done on your NSD's over the past few days, ideas for work lunch could be cup a soups? I also like the instant super noodles and mug shots... Easy and tasty. Failing that, fruit always fills me up!

Hope you have a good weekend despite working (extra pennies though)

  • Thank you would love the recipe.

Had a good day, worked this morning and then straight over to parents. She is a typical jewish mother but due to disabilities she can not cook like a jewish mother. So my duties today was to cook 5lbs of fish balls - stopped for tea and home stinking. I've had a shower but sure I can still smell it.

Was going to do food shopping but as I stank there was not a chance I was going to go to tesco so straight home. Today's spend was £2.05.

Got one of those porridge pots for my breakfast this morning, when I looked at the ingredients it was simply porridge, milk powder and sugar.
I normally use the microwave version but no milk today.

I am moving to a different office a week on Monday and there are no real kitchen facilities so considering trying to make instant porridge myself. I thought If I brought cheap porridge and popped in in the blender to make it it smaller oats , add milk powder and then add boiled water and honey to sweeten? Do you think it will work.

Tonight is a chilled night - well maybe a bit of washing up and vacuuming during the breaks in Harry potter.

Looking forward to a lie in tomorrow xx

  • I have printed off the snowball calculation if I just pay the minimum amount. I intend to keep it, but make a note each month exactly where I am with the overpayments ( subject to being able to make over payments). My debt free day is August 2018 but not a chance I intend to be debt free well, before then xx

  • I will look the recipe out for you tomorrow hun and pop it over on a message. I don't see why your porridge plan shouldn't work, you'll have to give it a test at home first!

I always get paranoid about smells too... Fish is a bad one, right up there with onions! And also if I have been vomiting :(

The Harry Potter films are brilliant, enjoy!

Hi, well done on your good efforts to pay your debts.

Just wanted to say that yes, this method works really well, you can even just reuse an original porridge pot. I haven't bothered to blend the oats, just choose the smallest oats in the supermarket.
You'll save a fortune over the pots and sachets :)
  • Thank you Jemma I shall do that. Porridge oats are on my shopping list rather than oats so simple xxx
