I have very long hair in good condition (most of the time) and its highlighted but I think its happy because its very rarely subjected to heat. I also don't use shampoo very often, but rather only conditioner. I do have the hairdresser highlight it.

However, it hates some of my medications, and medication changes, and this muggy weather!

Apparently you can get conditioners that shampoo your hair as well if you know what I mean, I do know a lot of people like to use conditioner only. I was reading an article about whether people should use conditioner only and the advice was no.

It doesnt clean your hair v well, it coats it. In my pic my hair is straight but thats me just out of the hairdresser, I have very wavy hair and it goes curly in the heat

To the point where getting a brush through it even with layers can be hard without a decent conditioner

Also apparently if you use one of those 3 minute miracle treatments you should rinse your hair and use a normal conditioner afterwards, according to my hairdresser.

I just use Dove shampoo/conditioner once every 7-10 days. Dry naturally and straighten with GHDs, applying heat defence serum, and it's in very good condition.

Mines about the same length as yours, except I have a fringe.
I was also told to use a conditioner with every wash but after rinsing (very, well) and this applies to the 3 minute miracle. Rinse again in cold water.
Edited just to say, I don't then put another conditioner on top of the 3 minute miracle as this is a conditioner anyway.

I think long hair can look great at any age, as long as it's "good" hair and not a mop of coarse, dry, damaged straw. I think that kind of hair looks horrible at any age (usually due to over-use of bleach and straighteners).

I think what my hairdresser said is the 3 minute miracle opens up the hair follicles and you need to rinse and put another conditioner on again to flatten them back down, I had no idea until we were chatting about it.

You learn a new thing everyday :)
My hair is quite fine and I find some condtioners far too heavy and can make it look greasy. So I only use a small blob. And try not to put it on my roots.
I find the Aussie stuff very good. Always on offer with a coupon or two (Very MSE) the last 3 cost me £2 each!!

I do think long hair can age some women as hair can go very thin. What I particularly don't like is the opposite end of the spectrum, women that have a sort of 'short back and sides'. It may be wash'n'go but I think it looks very masculine.

Mine is still thicker than most womens even young women & it has thinned a little.
