Its just another way of making sure we women know someone will always be judging us for the way we look.
Sadly, this thread was apparently started by a woman who wants to criticise other women for what they wear....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

That was my immediate image too on mention of a rib t-shirt“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I suppose its a good pun on ribbed cotton. I have a weakness for puns.0 -

That it can look good on the right sort of women.0 -

I think that's a bit harsh.
As women we have a much wider variety of styles & types of clothes available to us than men have. But there is an age appropriate rule that's not always applied by the wearer.
I have a beige cardi but in no way did I feel the OP was referring to me when she said beige cardi brigade. Mine is a trendy chunky Arran style one that looks great with skinny jeans & a cami/vest/T.
Anyway there are "rules" about what's ok at what age.0 -
I've always, always loved the "cute ditsy dress with biker boots" look. Unfortunately, I have also never had the body for it! So I mainly dress in short dresses over jeans, and *gasp* a cardy over the top.
I did wear purple dr martens all through my teens though. That was my super rebel phase... I couldn't care less what people wear. Although I have a particular dislike for the trashy "short skirt/overflowing cleavage" look.
And I hate, HATE "comedy" underwear on guys (Bart Simpson kind of stuff).
I hate mixed styles like that. I've been told my look is sexy/smart/stylish. If I wore a ditsy dress it would be with pretty shoes.
I hate black & navy being mixed......0 -
Regardless of the age thing, I just find it amusing that the OP feels a tutu is somehow less of an issue than a beige cardi.
:D
*goes off to wear my beige with pride* :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -

I loved mixed styles. Practically I often wear boots at home, but usually muckers  they aren't very cheerful. But I cannot see them under the long stained evening dresses I often sport, No good for functions, fine for feeding chickens or swanning around the garden. I hitch them up a bit so the hem doesn't get too wet and muddy. So what if I have to wear a big coat over the top to keep warm, I'm still happy I dressed like an eccentric scarecrow!
, I wouldn't chose to impose that in a different setting.0 -

It means don't wear hooker gear when you're 8 and don't wear 8 year olds styles when you're old enough to know better......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
