It's not so much the look (though I am not that keen on that either), it's more the thought of how my feet would react to being in (fluffy) boots all the time. I am not greater than a 12 for the record ;).

I have a pair of ugg slippers, they are lovely.

I should have got the next size up though....

They are lovely & snugly & warm, they don't smell either.

If you're skinny they look great with jeggings or skinny jeans.
They should never be sold to anyone greater than a size 12!

Personally, I think they look awful on every one. And especially bad on very slender people. I have some, and I am bigger than a size twelve, and they also look awful on me, but they are super warm and comfortable, and that's why I wear them.

I think that kind of comment exactly typifies what person one and neverdespair rip both described so well in the way women put other women down. The point of those things is surely comfort more than or at least as much as looks?

So while I don't think there's a particular age for cardi's (I'm sure I had them in my twenties too?!), I do get what the OP was trying to say.

    I do too.

I think she was meaning the type of cardis worn by Mrs Brown:

Feet are fine in them. That said, my feet are always cold and the nearest they come to defrosting is in those things, all my other outdoor boots have sheepskin insoles in winter so I am huge fan of warmth and fluff, if not the look.

I wouldn't put anyone down for wearing them, far from it, but I wouldn't wear them myself. Each to their own. :D.

I have a pair of crocs, they are for the garden ONLY.
They are great for wearing on the patio or watering hanging baskets.

I wear them for walking the dogs as well and have been known to wear them into the supermarket if I'm dropping in on the way back.

Clothes should be what you want them to be surely.
I have some clothes that make me look nicer, some that are very comfy (and not that attractive in the grand scheme of things) and some that are half-way or even both!

I wear hand knitted socks with my shoes and boots, they keep my feet warm and toasty, sadly I am also afflicted with iceberg feet ;).

All sheepskin boots (there are lots of different makes including Emu, Kiwi, Celtic) are supposed to keep your feet warm in winter and cool in summer.

    From one website:
    Specific benefits of sheepskin footwear:
    • The sheepskin wool pile can absorb up to 33% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, therefore problems with sweaty feet or foot odour can be reduced.
    • Further, the lambskin fibres in the sheepskin boots wicks moisture away from your feet, keeping them drier and therefore more comfortable.
    • The wool fibres of natural lambskin are one of nature's best insulators, the wool fleece also permits air circulation, allowing your feet to breathe.
    • The millions of air pockets inside the wool trap warmth.
    • The footwear, especially the sheepskin innersoles/insoles, mould to the shape of your feet.
    • Sheepskin footwear is hand washable (see above).

I don't wear mine in summer, but they certainly keep my feet warm in winter.
