My flatmate was there in 1997-8, so I suppose prices might have gone up since then? They've also probably got rid of the workhouse furniture (-:

I also went to UCL for undergrad and went back there for my master's degree.

I saw the inside of one of the gower st houses a couple of times in 2002 and they certainly didn't have workhouse era furniture in them, nor was the room I, ahem, inspected a shared room. At least I hope it wasn't.

We live half-way between 2 supermarkets - Waitrose and Co-op. Fortunately, neither's more than a 5 min walk.
I can choose Mr T or Mr S. They're both 2-3 miles in opposite directions. So each takes a car trip.... both have a Lidl close by.

Our nearest supermarket is approx 1 hour walk away...as are the others.

They are trying to get permission to build one approx 20 mins walk away but so far, they are failing.

Hmm, think the Thorpe Park visit I had been thinking of doing at the end of the school holidays will have to be cancelled and the money used for James' stuff for Uni, not that I will be upset, I was not looking forward to the drive! Not just because of the actual driving but also my energy levels are not great at the moment and I would be worried about running out of spoons on the way home.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Happy Birthday! A friend moans that her birthday (this week) means that people are always on holiday, so celebrating is limited. So now she has a second birthday mid September too!

I always have several. I'm celebrating with my kids today, going out to the pub with my work friends on Thursday (combining my birthday with celebrating or drowning sorrows according to our GCSE results) and will have some kind of meal with my church friends in September when everyone's back off holiday. :D

So far today I have had a lie-in, followed by breakfast brought to me in bed, followed by opening stuff downstairs - DD has decorated the living room with paper chains and Christmas tree lights - "stuff" being a few cards in the post, some text messages, and several presents (mostly biscuits) from DD. DS has ordered me something from Amazon that hasn't arrived yet, and my dad gave me some edible presents in advance last time we saw him and is transferring some money to my bank account today. I am now going to have a (hopefully uninterrupted) bath with lots of bubbles, and DS and DD are making a huge effort to go a whole day without squabbling, so far with only brief lapses. :)

Later, DD is going to make a cake and then a friend is coming for tea, and I'll take DS and DD out for Chinese.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

How will your boys feel about it being cancelled? And, err... spoons? Am I missing something here?

Just spoken to James and middle son, they understand thankfully. I didn't actually tell them it was a def before, only a possibility, so they hadn't got too excited about it.

Youngest wasn't really into it, he wanted to go to London!

As we have proper scientists on this thread, I will post up results in a formal sciency stylee. :)

It has been prompted by his clippering in private places....and he will kill me if he knew this was a topic on the NPT thread.....but I fell about laughing as a whole patch of body was bald (around you know where) and then there was all this manly hair everywhere else.

Bet your DH was charmed and seduced by the fact that a crucial part of his body had you howling with laughter instead of awed, impressed and compliant (-:

Can't (mustn't) grow a beard, or a moustache- the colours are all different!

I look like an experiment by a colour-blind pioneering face transplant surgeon.

My Dad hs that big-time - dark hair, ginger beard, and startling in-yer-face ginger, at that. So he doesn't often not shave (-:

Oh has it too, but less gingery.
That's quite normal though, isn't it? And the reason the jokes about women not matching are so misogynistic....its amazing and quite intriguing really how varied in coloration we can be. I don't think its a a 'mustn't' generally, even if the effect is startling.

Carpets and curtains, you mean? When I grow a beard, it matches. i think. Well, if I ever grow one, I'll let you know!

    Happy Birthday Lydia!
Happy bday Lydia and congratulations on having the best star sign.

I have no idea what start sign we are in at the moment. What is it?

The circumstances in which I imagine you saw the inside of one are precisely the circumstances which would have meant I'd have hated sharing a room with my later-flatmate. In a flat, with her room, it was great.
