Agree with that.lostinrates wrote: »Do you ever go back to formal hall?
Its really fantastic to go as a guest, I really appreciate the privilege, for those of us whose college fare was less grand and whose rooms were more prosaic its all pretty glorious!
DH is giving a lecture next term, I'm hoping I can go too.
I went back for a gaudy (latin for reunion) last term. Great fun seeing how everyone has turned out - mostly just the same as they always were but older and with partners/children. Fantastic food (4 or 5 courses with sherry before, wines with and port after the meal). Black tie, all the grandeur, and only forty quid for the evening.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Woke up and had one of the 5 doughnuts I picked up. They were chocolate doughnuts, but 33p. The jam ones were reduced to 50p and there was 10 of them. 5's pushing it (I'll manage)... so I had to get the chocolate ones or none.

I'm getting ready to set off for woolacombe. As a last minute idea (cream tea related!) I decided to bake scones to take with me.

I have not heard that expression since my uni years. We had a festival in Freshers week called Gaudie Night where "senior men/women" (second-years, like US sophomores) were paired as "academic parents" with juniors called "bejants/bejantines" (first years, like US freshmen) and taken on a drinking tour round town.
My "senior man" was a good helpful bloke and in my second year I had two bejantines from Connecticut College who were over for an exchange and made no demands whatsoever. That's the kind of college ritual they should perpetuate. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Happy Birthday Lydia! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
