If you are estranged from the parent not the child and the child is now an adult and you are happy to talk to the child then why not?

On the other hand the child may be doing it in part as a rebellion against their parent in which case do you want to be involved in that sort of game?

Because parent most emphatically wishes not and could cause difficulties. sure 19 year old does not know full details , don't want to be asked....or to answer untruthfully. :o. Or truthfully. That's sort of game does not appeal, as you say. Miss them ....nearest I will ever have to children! :(

I don't think 19 year old is game playing, But do think its telling they have only contacted for help. Also think that the level of help they have asked for is inappropriate and that if that's said any way of saying it after no contact sounds ( in various different drafts) unloving, smug, superior, bloody nasty. If one was in regular contact you could just say....come on....whose work is this?

Grrr...was meant to go out in the morning but there is going to be fog and minus three in the towns (which means about minus four or five here) so I am cancelling.

But -5 for you is about 20 degrees colder than inside, so just like 3 degrees for (some of) the rest of us
    I think....

No, its just I get on with it, after moaning here :o:D

Thinking about more important things now.

I've given up trying to find a crewel with monkeys we both like and can afford. DH likes this. I'm not keen on the bright pink, but agree it works in the room.

I hadn't thought of black, but it works with the modern still life paintings we have bought...all have dark backgrounds. Just not sure about using it on all the windows........

Poor picture quality because its dark....

Am I wrong to be perplexed by the following, in Javascript?

y="5"*5 -> 25 as the answer, ie the string gets converted into a number
y="5"+5 -> 55 as the answer, rather than 10, ie the + gets used as a string operator rather than an arithmetical one.

It could have been implemented either way, and this seems inconsistent.

(Just learning Javascript, as I want to try out an internet project.)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Seems reasonable as it's not in speech marks.
