    This made me smile!

I have aching sides and tears in my eyes from laughing, it's priceless!! (And so true, as those of us who have lived with a cat and dog at the same time will testify ... ;) )
  • I've more than once seen Yossie curled up in about 20% of one of the border collies' beds, and the dog who should be in it slumped on the floor nearby, knowing its place.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Well, to be honest, I've never had a "money no object" present, nor ever considered one ... and I've lead a very small life, with no idea what well off people do with money. So it's more of a "tramp's wish list" than a "money no object" list I guess :)

If I've no experience of it, no knowledge of it, it can't be on the list.

    Waste it, truth be told.
Buy nice food which is available to everybody in places like France and the Med.
Buy wine that's a lot cheaper in the countries that make it.
Send kids to schools that'll turn them into white-collar workers but wouldn't be necessary in most of the world.
Hiring private trainers to keep you fit enough to not keel over at 40.
Visit sunny climes where everybody'll wonder why you're turning lobster pink while the equally pale Germans and Scandinavians are turning brown. :o

Linking this to Gen's question the other day about how to fit in exercise reminds me of the millionaire Hank Scorpio who employs Homer Simpson. He paces furiously in his treadmill and when he's finished exercising he steps onto a conveyor belt/peoplemover that carries him to the next room. Absolutely inspired!

Well done (and welcome back). Soon you'll be at your cognitive peak!

I'm there already. I expected to be thinking as fast as the chap taking those IQ-raising pills in "Limitless"

    Frankly, I'm underwhelmed.:o

PS how was Spain and which part did you visit. I took DW to Barcelona for a major birthday and looking for some where close but nice for the next one.

PS2 You missed a good Dr Who which seems to share your birthday almost.

Avatar-dog had a basic hard plastic dog bed - the standard shape with an "entrance" where the side was a bit lower. When a large armchair died, we took the cushion that had formed the seat of it and put it in the dog bed, and then it had some kind of purpose made fleece fabric for dogs to sleep on over the top of the cushion. He did use it to retreat to during the day occasionally, but he never slept in it at night. At night the people went upstairs so he thought he was allowed to sleep on the sofa.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Well I had the interview today and I think it went well. It's always hard being interviewed by someone you know but I'd be pretty disappointed not to get a second interview at least.
