Flat hunting with parent. I feel like goldilocks, one was too small, one was too dark, one was just strange, one was in the wrong position, one faced the wrong way.....grrrrr!
What is the obsession of putting kitchens in the lounge of flats? Doesn't work if you want lots of cupboard space in your kitchen and room for an american fridge freezer. I would understand if it was flats aimed at the young market who live on take aways, but for older folks who want to cook, it really doesn't work.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It sounds great. She must be having a ball.
Someone should take it on... But... I know it's very popular, but
liquid nitrogen is so potentially dangerous, how do you protect staff/customers and insure a business that deals with feeding people liquid nitrogen. I read a story about a girl who was killed by internal burns from a cocktail with liquid nitrogen that hadn't been dealt with correctly, in the UK.
I'd love to do something that brought fun to people.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Because open plan living is supposed to be what everyone wants. You are supposed to want to be able to socialise with your friends while you cook for them. Indeed, lots of people do like that, which is fine for them, but not so good for the people whose lifestyle doesn't lend itself to that sort of thing who are looking for a flat.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I am hoping for the best, but anticipating you will not be able to do it due to:
Fire risk.
A lack of terracotta pots.
Other sound PN reasoning why being cold is a better option.
Here such a contraption would mean the dog or the cat would cause all to be toast.0 -

I keep meaning to try it. Tbh, I just find the power of lit candles can make a significant difference when its cold enough. We do candles with cats and dogs.0 -

My mum's retirement apartment had that sort of layout, an archway off the sitting room. The benefit was that she could take food through to the dining table without carrying a tray and trying to open doors.
She then moved to a newer flat that had a proper kitchen, and had room for small table and couple of chairs.0 -

If I designed a kitchen from scratch I'd put one double-triple deep cupboard somewhere then have one nice long run of worktop .... and pan drawers underneath. Beyond that, whatever else happens is pretty much irrelevant as there's room for all your "stuff".
American fridge freezers = pretty much forget that in most. Does she "need" such a huge appliance? For one person living alone a standard fridge/freezer should be enough.
I also think all flats should have an outside space, a Juliette balcony at least. You feel "trapped" without being able to throw open doors and step outside..... or have that feeling. Even a balcony of 2'x3' is better than nothing - at least there's room for a cheap plastic chair there!0
