Had middle son's parents' consultation on Thursday, he is doing extremely well and at this early stage, is predicted and working at 4 A's. He still doesn't understand why he has to do four whilst others are doing 3 despite being told it is because he is one of the brighter ones...he just sees it as being unfair.
Yay! Well done middle son.
Had DS's parents' evening this week as well. They are all v pleased with his behaviour and say he is a lovely boy, polite, conscientious and never messes about in class. He has the complete spectrum of how well he's doing, though, from ICT, drama & maths (all excellent & implying he's a bit of a star student) gradually down through science (very good but not flying quite as much as maths), history, geography & RE (all going well), art, PE & music (managing fine despite not having leanings in those directions), English (finding it tough but making acceptable progress), French (surviving in a gentle and undemanding bottom set) and finally Spanish (trying hard but barely keeping up). The Spanish teacher asked me if there were other subjects he was good at, and looked most relieved when I said yes! I had lots of opportunities to talk to all his teachers about his dyslexia (is supposed to use a word processor in class, finds it v helpful, but can't bring himself to be brave enough to ask for it) and his dreadful underconfidence problem (thinks most of the teachers hate him and that he's "rubbish" at all but his best subjects). I was pleased with how caring the teachers seemed to be, and how much they wanted to take on board what I was saying about him.

What NDG said.I can sort of see that if I was having a group of young people renting I would want to do an inspection early just to make sure they weren't mistreating the place (and so that they remember they are responsible for any damages) but I think the 'report' would probably be counter-productive...
Well, yes, I can understand that. But in what way is tidiness relevant? Inspections of properties I rented wanted to know if I was adequately looking after the landlord's fixtures and fittings, and whether any repairs were needed so they could be done before whatever it was got any worse, not whether I was storing my belongings in the cupboards or on the floor!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Must have been rented out as nobody's even bothered picking the panels up from the garden.
I see it the other way. That's been sold to an owner-occupier. If I'd moved into a rented house with fence panels blown down, I have expected the LA to get the LL to fix them fairly quickly. If it was my own house and it wasn't bothing anyone, there's a possibilityI'd be busy dealing with other things that were more important and leave it until I happened to get round to it...A moral conundrum for the nice people.
As I said earlier, I was at the school fete today. The school is for children between the ages of 4.5 and 12. In between the bands that were on they had some pop music playing, in the course of 3 songs the words/phrases, "sl u t", "o ral se x" and "motherf c uker" were pretty clearly heard along with the normal misogynistic crap that goes along with music of that sort.
Should I go up to the school to complain or do I accept that in the C21st my kids should expect to have words like that in the music they hear in school?
Agree with everyone else - many of whom have made excellent points. Complain. That doesn't sound like a fantastic symptom TBH. Worth taking to the GP perhaps..? Especially given that you're a smoker so your blood circulation mightn't be all it could be.
Agree. It may be nothing, and I hope it is, but it might not be. If by any chance it is something important, get seen now before you get a clot that makes you lose the leg in a more permanent sense - or one that moves up from your leg to your heart or something.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? These two fence panels were the whole side of the garden, exposing it all, directly off the parking bays. So potentially something of a security issue that I'd like fixed. I'd have at least leant them back up where they came from in the interim.
As a renter I'd see they were down, call the agents, but if the Landlord were slack/hard to contact etc, then it could be a few weeks before the process started. As a renter I might not bother to go out and pick up the fence panels as I'd have no feeling of ownership nor care perhaps.0 -

Hmmmm, Saturday night, Mrs McT is away at work this weekend.
Hamish could....
a) Get some work done that's been piling up
b) Clean the house so it's nice and tidy when she gets back tomorrow
or....
c) Get royally p1ssed, go on a pubcrawl with some friends and end up blowing stuff up on playstation until 4 am.

Re condensation....
I bought a dehumidifier at Aldi or lidl, cannot remember which, a couple of weeks a go. Its amazing the difference even a presumably not that good one makes.
So much so I want another so I can have an upstairs one and a down stairs one at the same time.
Its not quiet but its relatively compact.
We've tried the silica collectors and they aren't that good.0 -

Gorgeous! How long did she keep them on for? Avatar-dog would have shaken them off his head within seconds.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
