Less amusing, DS1 had a landlord inspection of the property him and his mates are renting last week. They have only been there 8 weeks, so a bit excessive IMHO. On leaving she said she would be in touch with their grades! Apparently she intends marking each room out of 10 for tidiness! I know they are not long out of education, but really!
LOL/grades. Woman needs taking down a peg or two. A fist suffices, the first time. Should sbe persist, a length of 4x2 is the next option.0 -

Further down the pecking order, students, single people in studios and couples without children get varying levels of !!!!!! to deal with.0 -

Ok. I don't want you to feel pressured either way though,
I know my house is not pristine, but everything put away is clean (as possible ) and organised, so I wanted you to know when I offered before I wasn't offering crumbled mess ones. I'll keep them for you (or I could post them)

I don't recall ever having an inspection to be honest, I've rented since 1997 except for 2004-2007. Certainly haven't had one since 2007 and I am not a family living in a nice house! Having said that, may have just been due to the location of my landlords. Since 2007 has been: Australia, Manchester, Edinburgh and now Australia again.0 -

I can sort of see that if I was having a group of young people renting I would want to do an inspection early just to make sure they weren't mistreating the place (and so that they remember they are responsible for any damages) but I think the 'report' would probably be counter-productive...I think....0 -
While out I had to get some shopping - and I do like to look at what I can't afford..... so there I was in the tinned meat section and saw some Princes Chicken Deli Fillers. £1/tin, reduced from £1.25. Nice - but clearly not value for money .... and then I spotted them - the end pile said "Sale, 25p" - and so I grabbed myself 8 of the chicken and sweetcorn ones
Also double checked as it scanned through.

Oh, and, the house.
It had a back door, but the kitchen was so small they had their fridge/freezer there. Only other way to fit a fridge/freezer into the house would be to rip 1/4 of the kitchen out. Although if I were buying it that would just niggle it wouldn't be a deal breaker as there's patio doors to the garden and as it's "just me" it doesn't matter one way or the other which door I go through.
It was a nice size, nice square rooms. It was fine. But I am not prepared to stretch/borrow for a house that was fine.
It'll probably go to somebody else anyway as they are getting a mortgage and will walk in preparing to go higher/asking price.
Many months ago I'd been given some house details by an EA - as I was waiting round the corner I dug them out and realised that house (since sold) was just round the corner so I took a look; saw the entire fencing had come down in the recent storms, so that'd have been an annoyance if I'd bought that one. Must have been rented out as nobody's even bothered picking the panels up from the garden.
That one had been on at £195k and sold at £190k in July.0 -

Yes. When I was more liberal I took the time to judge each person on their merits - now I am quite happy to take a short cut based on probability...it's not fair but then nor is life.I think....0
