Feeling a bit nervous - a bit of bleeding, GP says to lie down and not move around at all until my scan tomorrow. Trying to get my case this afternoon adjourned, but lots of warnings of being seen as "unreliable", and I might have to go anyway!

It is outrageous that you should be in this position. If you had Scarlet Fever or Diphtheria, nobody would suggest that you attend court to avoid appearing unreliable.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    I think so too. :(.

However, many women face this sort of stigma. Not just in pregnancy. Some women who are perfectly well most of the month have hormonal issues, for example, beyond tho
Se of the average woman, that renders them 'unreliable' a day or two a month. Not enough to be disabled' (obviously)but enough to need flexibility.

Edit...I am now thinking of all sorts of other things...migraines, ibs, all 'minor' things (no offense meant to sufferes) that don,t impact on their intellect or ability between incidents but do limit their choices and ability to earn often enough because of perception of 'unreliability'.. Disability act is meant to cover.

I for example, would love a little 'job'. Just something a few hours a week to get me out, you know? But I wouldn't employ me. Hope can I fairly ask someone else to?

Is it really wrong to scoff the mini-chocolate bags (mars, malteasers, twix) that you'd bought to give to trick n treaters ... ?

    :o

(There are still quite a few left but it's not the most healthy breakfast / lunch I could have found ... )

I'd disagree. The crappy hotdogs sold to idiots under the guise of "trendy" are 3x the price. I bet if you went down a cheap market they'd be cheaper than up country.

The only cheap market in London is in Walford and I still haven't worked out how to get there on the tube yet.

No, not wrong at all. You're doing them a favour.

Now you have to turn out your lights and sit in the backroom scoffing the rest. After all, you can't disappoint them by running out when you open the door.

Dislike the concept of dressing up to frighten people and the idea of T or T; maybe I'm just getting old.

    I don't like it either.

Oh NDG. So sorry to hear you are having such a scary time. Hoping and praying for the best for you. How many weeks are you?

Yes, absolutely outrageous, and utterly unfair. The one small comfort is that it probably doesn't make any difference. All the stuff they say about resting and so on is just to make you feel there is something you can do. In fact, if it's going to stay, it's going to stay, and if it's going to go, it's going to go, and resting etc makes no difference to anything in the first trimester. Later on, it's a different story, but at this stage, there's very little anyone can do that has any influence on anything.

Whether it's reasonable for anybody to expect NDG to concentrate on doing her job well when she is worrying about what might be going on is a completely different question.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

This stock image of a hot dog stand in London has a price list saying £1.50

Photo taken 2007, but hot dog prices haven't gone mad in the intervening years.

"Posh" ones in 2011, £3 "Finest beechwood smoked sausages"

I fear we may have seriously underestimated on the t or t snacks - had some cute tiny ones but already there are some teens who have applied red lippy to their shirts and seem to think that justifies a shake down :(

Thinks - our 3 have gone out with DW - perhaps I should call them back and use their stash for those who come to our door.....
    I think....
