Oooh...kinky (this post is just for you, GDB)
Oh, and so sad, I am very shortly going to report the death of my kitchen plastic stilettos.
.
They are cracked and not safe, they are going to give way soon, and with me collapsing more plus concrete floors and dogs sprawled every where the potential for disaster is great.
If my ankle goes down I might take a snap of them for posterity then choose another pair of shoes for the kitchen, but those were perfect as they were wipe clean
and robust. 0 -

Welcome!
Are you Jewish, or married to, living with, or connected in some way to, a person of the Jewish persuasion?
The requirement for the NP thread in relation to mushrooms is to have strong views about them - either for (if you are mad) or thinking they are the devil's work (if you're sensible)! If it helps, the same thing happened to me and the result is now 23 years old.
Thanks - I know it's not a tragic sign, but it's not a cheerful one, if that makes sense! My mother had the same thing, and the result (me) is now 35. I'm 12 weeks now.
My senior clerk got it adjourned, fortunately, and it's for a solicitor I do 40% of my work for, so they know that I never, ever don't turn up at court.
Turning up at court, on time, and reliably, is seen as super-important. But I think that while Lydia's right - it wouldn't have made any difference if I had or hadn't gone - I'd have felt worried all the time, and wouldn't have been at my best in dealing with a very tangled and complicated legal argument.
Courts are very reluctant indeed to adjourn, and rarely like it if counsel claims illness, but in this case, they've just had to live with it. My clerk's fax said I was not in a state where I was fit to attend and assist the court, that the case was not returnable as was too complicated, so if they didn't adjourn I'd have to turn up and wouldn't be able to be much use anyway. It worked....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I've spent some time this evening looking at woodburners with hot plates.
Despite not being a fan of woodburners I have agreed its a better option than a fire fore the study. DH wants a hot plate to roast chestnuts on and room for a coffee pot. I don't think that's a bad idea. Useful space for slow simmering in odd places is useful before parties and stuff. For example, one could mull cidre or wine there without too much smell intrusion.
In a dream situation I'd have had a Very tiny Victorian range, like a diminutive Cornish range.
Instead I'm looking at woodburners with hot plates. Boy, have I learnt to compromise!0 -

Well done NDG the decision to attend court if you are at risk of compromising your pregnancy is yours alone with advice from your midwife.
Communicate what you need to to mitigate perceptions of unreliability.
When I read your post I felt frightened for you, and wanted there to be someone who is looking out for your best interests in health and wellbeing or for you to be able to say "not today".
Thank god you did. All may be well, your mums situation turned out OK. I remain mum to one.0 -
We have issues with our fireplace.
We want to replace it with something modern, but preserve the ability to burn logs.
Apparently the only suitable hearths and immediate surround has to be black granite. With the rest of the fireplace being whatever colour we choose.
This is an example that I found randomly (so ignore the price) .
Whereas I would prefer something like this.
So I am stomping my feet. If any NP have any ideas?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We have given up 25% of salary (plus a few k bonus) for tax/benefits reasons this year...it does hurt

Lets hope all is well with NDG - we seemed to have the same issue and scans every week with DD1. I know where I stand on the work vs family health trade-off. It may explain why I haven't reached further at work but I certainly wouldn't change it.
I am trying to give up a third of my salary.
It has taken me so long to to get my head round the worklife balance thing. Met with my team today to discuss redistribution of my work to them and have made an appointment to see Occ health.
I have also been exploring areas I could do some volunteering in when energy recovers.
I think my interests are:
Listening to littlies read
Families support such as Homestart
Food banks
Elderly and companion pets such as Cinnamon Trust
OH is delighted but worried I will want to 'adopt' those who need a bit of help...I am more concerned that I do not get into something and as PN says do Bugg4h all altruistically.0 -

Problem is we want to burn logs in an open fire, rather than have a stove in the fireplace.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
