Anyone who buys pre-grated cheese needs their head looking at - seriously!
Not if it's cheaper than the block sitting next to it. That's why I occasionally buy it - I buy on price, I don't care what form/shape it is ... if it's cheddar and cheapest it's in the basket (so long as the price is still no more than £5.30/Kg, which is my max buying point).

Although, actually, the pre-grated stuff often has some small print "eat within 3 days of opening" - and yes, it does go green. But I have bought it 2-3x in the past.

I've mentioned the friend who sent a wedding invitation which was fairly explicit in the no plus one category. It's a weird thing, as I've always felt a little distant from him anyway. TBH I'm not too inclined to go, & I have learned that the stag do invitations have been sent out. I haven't had one, though having seen one, I REALLY wouldn't want to go on this event anyway, so saves me making an excuse.
Some people feel they should be inviting others because it'd be awkward if they bumped into them and hadn't. RSVP "No thanks" - he'll probably be relieved.

And thank your lucky stars you didn't get an invite to an expensive Stag Do that you'd begrudge the time/spend of.

I'm getting very very fed up with this now, & am sorely tempted to send a snotty email or text, but know the likely consequence of such an action.
I'd just forget it and go silent.

Having read this back, I'm not sure why I posted this. I'll leave it as a cathartic exercise I suppose, but I'm getting very annoyed with people who are supposed to be friends not behaving like friends should.
Friends always drop singles once they've got another half, kids, house etc to deal with. You've nothing in common to talk about and the spouse will be suspicious every time he goes out with his single mate/s and he'll get the 3rd degree, so it's easier to hang out with other couples with kids now.

I understand that part P of the electrical regs makes it not as simple as that, sadly. If you get an electrician in to fit the replacement unsafe lamp, he probably will refuse. If you do it yourself, you are apparently committing an offence as it's in the bathroom.

I'm not an expert, but that's the gist of it. Of course, the regs are overkill (geddit!) but they are law, I'm afraid.

It's in an old zone three area. As I understand it I can have any wall lamp the electrician is prepared to fit as it is out of the splash zone. The electrician is happy to fit any lamp I should desire, its the architect who wants zone two ones, so my guess is its not the law I need bathroom safe ones in this Latino in the bathroom.

Lemon jelly, are the other friends having similar life changes? Marriage/ babies etc? Whilst we cover both groups still...and me mainly via email....there does seem to be a growing gulf between some our more 'grown up' friends and our ' still young' ;) friends...who know each other.

I think sometimes its a mutual sort of envy, and sometimes its a lack of understanding of what each others life entails ( and I pointed out to a married with kid who visited last week that the singles who have grown up don't all have the same lifestyle as 'we' used to and they aren't necessarily as free as we used to be as he was suggesting in a bit of a rant'. Fwiw he also couldn't understand why we weren't going to stay with them and DH said he kept asking how I was every time I left the room, like 'she seems ok' or 'is she ok' or 'should you check on her, she was blue':rotfl:

Not really LIR. I'm sure both parties (me & friends) are not fully aware of each others responsibilities/commitments, as well as things like time, stresses, and so on.

Sometimes (frequently) I suppose we all get so caught up in our own little worlds, that we unintentionally forget about so many others around us.

Like I say, maybe it is happening all at the same time & getting to me...

SUPER LUCKY there! I'm so glad the irreplaceable didn't vanish.

It does seem odd though, to be overlooked. Obviously one person, probably first timer. Maybe heard a noise and got scared so scarpered quick.

    Leaving laptop leads was odd.

Didn't think to look round for a bag.

Amateur, opportunist, first timer, alone.... is my amateur guess.

Pick stuff that is easier to sell, & less likely to be traceable is my guess...

I'll have to bow to your greater knowledge of what's easier to sell ... as I've no experience of buying nor selling stolen goods :)

    that should do it?

Many thanks for the advice. I've opened a gmail account and set up Mail on the mac to handle it. I've set the gmail to pick up his Hotmail. Only thing left is to see how to tell his contacts that they could use the hotmail address or the gmail address. Nothing like as difficult as I feared.

Michaels I found this website http://www.wikihow.com/Switch-from-Hotmail-to-Gmail told me most of what you need to do.

Ah yes, architects can be a right PITA. They can't be experts in every area, but they have to appear expert. So, they give a ruling that is on the safe side, without worrying about the cost. I would just challenge him. Say that you have taken advice from an electrician, and you prefer the electrician's advice on Part P. At the end of the day, it's your house, and the architect can't over-rule you.

Been there, got the T shirt, etc

BTW, how in heaven's name did a Latino creep into your post? Edit: Ah, seen your next post. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

A Latino creeps around my very existence. But not till Friday this week. :D

The architects mandate is to protect the house from us.

Perhaps that's all he is doing. DH and I will chat later about it and make a decision tonight probably.
