I guess the important question is when do you get tired?

You might find four days off together leaves you feeling...'out of the loop ' and that a day you can float between a full day or two split ones as suits your schedule / health mightvfitbbetter if you are not job sharing?

Great points to consider. Ones I'd never thought of. How long is the commute?

My mum returned to work a couple of weeks ago after her knee op. She's been doing reduced hours, but going in every day and has found that much better.

And they've re-arranged the rota so she will no longer work any Sundays (in theory - whether the person who is now scheduled to work them lasts very long remains to be seen). I'm pleased there is another definite day off though, she's worked some hours most Sundays for the past 20 years or so.

I once worked Tuesdays and Thursday in a team where everyone else was full time. By Tuesday morning I was totally out of the loop on everything that had gone on since Thurday afternoon, even though when planning my days I had thought Friday was a very unproductive day. After a while I was so marginalised that there wasn't really enough work for me to do.

In the ugly vehicle stakes, I drive an ex Post Office van, the bumper is bolted on one side to the bodywork and it's quietly turning that strange faded pink colour. The inside has enough fur rolling around to create another dog. Can I win please?:D

Ha, my bro has one of those too with the faded colour. Maybe we should get you both to Santa Pod to see who is faster over a quarter mile. Especially if you pimp your rides first. I'd love to see the looks on the faces of the road warriors if you overtook them in the fast lane on the way there while running nitrous.

Spirit though I agree with the practicality I guess the important question is when do you get tired?

I'd find three days on the trot impossible but might be able to consider m, t and thurs, with w and F off( oh, that looks bad). You know your energy best. You might find four days off together leaves you feeling...'out of the loop ' and that a day you can float between a full day or two split ones as suits your schedule / health mightvfitbbetter if you are not job sharing?

I was thinking along those lines, but OH and colleagues think I will the always be well for work and always in recovery mode on the days off. I may be happy with that but weekends I would still be tired.

Actually I dont really know until I try it:)

Maybe we should get you both together

Let me know if you go there - 5/7 days a week that is where the Met office give me weather reports for as I'm sat very close :)
The other 2/7 days I'm not that far away either!

There were ads for a Mini day when I was frantically typing at the end of Aug. I was tempted to go just to see what the place was about, but decided I should stick to the typing...

    .

About an hour each way. So disproportionate timewise to a short day

I do not want to do 5 short days as I will end up working longer days. Not enough self discipline.

****************, so I finally plucked up the courage this morning to say I'd be around if he fancied meeting up one evening He replied back pretty quickly to say he'd love to :)

I feel a bit like a giddy teenager :rotfl: Can't stress enough, nothing exciting is going to happen (would require at the very least 1. no gf and 2. reciprocated feelings ). But its soooo long since anyone caught my eye. I figured that I need to at least practice pushing through the discomfort if I'm ever going to try and meet anyone. And I am hoping that I've made a new friend at the very least.
    :)
    :)

awww.....good to read :) I cannot remember what it's like to feel like a giddy teenager .......I can hear him now, sat in his telly room, chomping sesame nuts and supping some camomile tea.
You will get a ton of tips on here should you want to post more info or any Q's ........go with the flow is my 1st top tip of the day.

    Significant decisions being made here.

OH and I have made the decision that I will reduce my work commitments. I want to move to working 3 days a week from January. Not working condensed hours or long days about 24 hours a week.

We will need to budget more wisely and I will need to make sure I do not work full time but get paid part-time.

    NP thoughts welcome.

That's the hard bit isn't it as nowadays we can be 'on call' 24/7 whether we like it or not.

Would they employ someone to do the remaining 2 days on a job share? I assume it's a FT job so would have to recruit someone to do the extra work or FT then create you a new PT role instead?

If you can afford to do it I would....I am feeling like bad non-attentive NP as I didn't realise you weren't well...sorry I must have missed the posts.

On the financial side there is a reduced salary, reduced pension and reduced life cover.

Spirit you know about this stuff so I'm sure you've got this covered. However if you are in a final salary scheme, the scheme hit from being part time can be extremely punitive. My only advice is to take advice if that could affect you. I know a few women who have come a cropper going part time towards the end of their career.

We had one of the multi's remapped, went like proverbial of a shovel, 150hp and 0-60 in 7s...until the gear box broke....Then again we used to drive the stock 1.6 at 99 on the motorway, never could understand why we only got 20mpg when the other owners claimed to get 30+
    I think....

I didn't think that I had any giddy teenager left, but apparently there is, it just needed re-awakening (by someone at a very safe distance and safely spoken for).

Shouldn't need any tips - it's not a date (I also included another female colleague who works at the same site to make sure it definitely didn't look like one, not that I think it would have even crossed his mind, only mine - she has yet to reply re meeting up). Might need to make sure I have a new outfit though (I wore all my normal work ones the week we sat next to each other). Also using it as an incentive to get back on the weight loss too (too easy to find excuses otherwise).

FC - I have to say that you did mention Mr FCs pecs a lot last week ;) I'm pretty sure there is giddiness look for it :D
