I want all the news from last night. Just to feel more deeply the pain of having missed out .:)

Who was lucky enough to be there?

Ok, ok, but we have to organise something soon, pn found Salisbury hard to get to, so shall we let her call somewhere for the three of us to meet?

    Last night was...

    Lydiaj (looking young and vibrant)
Gdb who was just as lovely as I hoped he would be though I didn't get to talk to him as much as I had hoped (phew he probably thought!)
Nikkster the fit, who had been on a mega walk through the afternoon enjoying bits of London she hadn't seen before (enjoying the free past times of a homeowner!)
Fc123 and her oh. The glamourous and gorgeous
Fir the delicious. (Oh, ok, only I think that)
And lir the forbidden ice drinker and eater of food she shouldn't have had. I believe I also held forth with such intellectual delights as 'why I want to be like Barbie' maybe that should be lir the air hair?

It's beautiful. I love the sink particularly, a great mix of old and new style. The shower is something else! I loved the view from the shower window when I came. Any idea how long it will be before hot water comes?

Probably this year or next. :D. I have bought a lush bath bomb. It sits, waiting, ready for the unveiling......there is a party planned, then an after show party.

Its a mild night, so I'm quite blas! about it all. :D. Your husband wisely forbade ripping up the old bathroom floor to connect in preparation just in case nothing happens.......

Architect is speaking to other people now, and plumber is asking around for recommendations.

The thing is, as grim as it is sometimes one has to admit, its pretty funny too. Most of the time.

IMHO applicants interview and display the person they think you want to see. A month into the job and you see the person they really are. Often the two are miles apart.

Thats my theory as well, though reading the hoops spirit goes through to interview, maybe I shoulld hire her to interview for me. Mind you the last 3 drivers and transport manager have been mint, despite my 5 minute interview techniwue, ahem!

Lir, if you feel the shower doesn't quite suit, I can take it off your hands ;-)
  • Thank you NDG. :). You are a darling! And I'd love to see your home and you again, and I were he about, whether I nap or not!

I'm sorry to say, Isaac and napping are not terribly compatible activities. Although Bruv did beat him - Isaac tried twice to get him out of bed on Saturday, before we went to Battle, and failed, despite Dad's encouragement. The immovable object won over the irresistible force (-:

I have mild dyscalculia, anything with number is torture. Stick some letters in and call it algebra and I'm part way on side, anything with a decimal point and I have to count the zeros and do some serious thinking. Excel is a mystery as well and long may it remain so!

Algebra's lovely, all logical and sensible and fun.

I only use Excel for my expenses and VAT, so nothing remotely complicated.

Pupillage for tenancy beats that issue - 12 month or 6 month job interview!

I don't know the area at all really .... but I'd pick somewhere next to a train station, so first I'd need to consult railway maps to see where they go.

Off the top of my head I'd say there's a Toby Carvery not far from here ... or there's Ikea and its meatballs about 25 miles away :)

Like holidays ... as I don't go out for meals, I've no idea what's out there....

Spirit would know better I bet.

Re algebra ... in about 1996 I was part of some new experiment with the OU to understand Algebra in a different way .... I can remember a one off special lesson (lessons were unusual!) where the new system was explained.

It did seem a LOT easier than previous ways of teaching it ....

Wonder if that took off or not.

You also met a pile of wet sand, under which there was An Isaac. We were all a bit tired, having left London at sparrow fart (5.30am, I think).

BBC2 just started - the house that £100k built.

    Following six self-builders.

West Wales, Andy and Jane - self sufficiency and living off the land. Nutters with no plans and a hammer.

He was a chemical engineer, she was a teacher.

Bought a plot of land, part of an eco community. Growing stuff. They have a few 000 in savings. They will build a timber framed straw bale house.

Logs lying around are the frame - £4,500 to make the frame.
Living on site in a static caravan, where they've been 3 years.

My turn for a random question. Toilet seat fixings, normally you drop the bolts through two holes in the bowl and screw on the plastic wingnuts from underneath. At the rented house we have one where the holes are not accessible from below because the bowl forms a continuous shroud, the seat hinges appear to instead screw in but the screws just rotate in both directions. How and I tighten the seat up or alternatively remove it and fit a replacement?

What you have is a blind hole toilet fixing. Like this:

You need to lever up on it, so as to make the anchor part grip. Then you can tighten it. Alternatively, you may end up pulling it out, in which case buy a new one. They are the spawn of Satan.

It's quite a tough role to fill as we are after someone who's happy to do the boring bit most of the time but has the capability to step up quite a long way on demand.

You Aussies are so laid back. You say "quite tough", when you mean bloody impossible.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
