    What is forbidden ice?

I'm not meant to have ice on one of my medications.

But I did. I was alright. Bit of a head and tummy ache. Worth it. :D

It depends on the roles but generally I pefer a mixed assessment when appointing people usually from:
    • A skills based test/activity
    • A presentation based on a case study they have had immediately prior to the interview
    • Verbal/non verbal reasoning/Numerical
    • Occupational Psychology Questionaires
    • An observed team activity
    • A carousel of interviews with 'stakeholders' who will score against arange of criteria
    • An interview panel
I have appointed people in roles from £20K to £150K and always look for behavioural indicators and emotional intelligence alongside the technical expertise.

Definitely no game playing with the candidates. Ad hoc stuff can be demeaning (was it Currys that had applicant dancing) is a bit self indulgent and I agree it leads to appointing mini me types .

    ...'beautiful people seats'. ...
    By the window?

I've never understood why a "table for 2" in most indian restaurants I've been in results in a tiny table for 2 (too small for the curry/rice/naans ordered) that's right next to the swinging door of the kitchen.

I went for one job as Project Manager about 15 years ago and they had a whole bunch of tests/assessments. They sat me in a room and said "do as many as you can", so I did the lot.

When the HR woman went over the results with me in the interview she said "we've never had anybody do the lot before .... and we've never had anybody get such a high score before..."

I am good at tests - proving I know my stuff/showing it I can do. Talking the talk isn't my thing.

Btw is it just me or is Lydia looking YOUNGER? how does that work? Can I get some?

Funnily enough OH said something similar.

Can I just say here, in public, that Lir has The Most Amazing Hair au naturel....so when she says something about it not being 'nice', it's not true.
I was quite excited to be in a bar last night. I had non alcoholic cocktails with forbidden ice.

I like a nice bar. We got what FC described as the 'beautiful people seats'. :rotfl: Which was good too.

Yup, by the window :). Mind you it was nicely quiet (without being dead) so we could all have a chat as my OH really struggles now when there is background hub-bub. I think GB does too a bit. Don't know if it was too noticeable but he is putting off having it sorted out as his consultant has retired, so we need to find a new one as the next op is impt to retain his hearing.

Well, alarm @ 6.30am after 3 generous glasses of red and enough pulled pork to feed 3 men, I did have to have 2 teas to get me going.

Lovely to see everyone. We don't get out much at all nowadays and I think it shows.:o
OH didn't know his nice Riess shirt didn't fit any more until he put it on 2 mins before leaving and didn't have time to find another.
So he sends apols for that too.:)
then see when they STOPPED talking too.
Because the questions were real and relaxed and conversational they weren't demanding glib, insincere or 'flashy' answers. They also got an idea of the real sort of conversations they'd be having on Monday mornings .

...me too...I can't stop talking as I spend so much time silent and it all backs up in my brain and then pours out my mouth.

I am 'chat' interviewer too but no more staff for me as it is the one stress I don't want to have any longer and I would rather sub out and run something small and manageable just us.

I would have failed Gens test too as I still haven't got 2 coherent sentences to say what I would do in the 3 weeks.

The only think that came to mind was treating it like never-ending lottery win and just wading my way through the unlimited cash changing peoples / charities /communities lives.

Having a massive spend fest probably wouldn't 'cut it' though.

I have Bugslets numbers thing too and am totally rubbish at charts/excel etc.
Don't really do 'teams' any longer either but I do work 'in partnership' with suppliers all the time so it's kind of teamy in a way.

oooh looks nice. When will it be working, ready to use?

I must sort out some pics for here...we are now 2 days away from having a bathroom with a 'Spa design reference' ;) IE; quite mainstream but the giant tiles are lovely up.

It's beautiful. I love the sink particularly, a great mix of old and new style. The shower is something else! I loved the view from the shower window when I came. Any idea how long it will be before hot water comes?
