No, circumstances intervened.
And no chewy either
Or NDG
All of whom I was expecting would be there until shortly before it happened, but were unavoidably unable to be there.
Will have to have another one soon.
I was really sad to miss it - I have to say my alternative evening's entertainment of hanging curtains, fixing toilet cisterns, fixing toilet seats, fixing bath screens, making radiators work, fixing cupboard doors, fixing bathroom cabinets and not getting in till 1AM was probably less fun. Did people manage to use the discount cards?PasturesNew wrote: »Saucy!
Some new website venture?
70s !!!!!! used to start with a handyman arriving....
I will have to bow to your superior knowledge on 70s !!!!!!...We're not selecting based on a whim. We're selecting on several defined criteria including Excel skills which we are measuring in a way that is good enough for us.
I don't see what writing an exam paper does to help me. I don't really give a shut what it does to help the candidates TBH. I've spent hours on this process and I'm not going to waste even more time to meet some spurious definition of fair.
It's going to be a hot day in Sydney today, 33C, and my air con has broken down.
Private sector vs govt sector? Uk vs Oz? Sometimes I think the public sector spends too long trying to get the best answer and make sure that they are being fair to do so when 'good enough' would take one tenth of the time and cost a tenth as much.I think....0 -

Off the top of my head I'd say there's a Toby Carvery not far from here ... or there's Ikea and its meatballs about 25 miles away
Like holidays ... as I don't go out for meals, I've no idea what's out there....
Spirit would know better I bet.
Yup, discount cards worked fine.
Very attentive service there...I felt a little provincial at times.
eg; I knocked knife to floor (very clean floor but floor none the less), picked it up and put it back on the table then in swooped a super efficient waitress who whisked it away and got a clean one.0 -

But I did. I was alright. Bit of a head and tummy ache. Worth it.
Isaac crunches ice cubes, which makes my (non-existent) fillings hurt.PasturesNew wrote: »Yes, I met a pile of wet sand.... accompanied by at least one person who felt so cold he was almost turning blue, but had to make it look like he was enjoying himself as he was on holiday.
Being born in Israel, and lacking any British seaside summer holidays as a child, made OH a bit of a wimp when it comes to holidays. He thinks being really cold isn't fun!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I did say, "probably not" right at the start - honest, Miss!lostinrates wrote: »Fir the delicious. (Oh, ok, only I think that)
OH calls that "a sister question", meaning a question with only wrong answers, such as, "do you think my sister's attractive?"
"No" is rude to the girlfriend asking, "yes" is worse.I know, not my choice. Looks like laser eye surgery for the present, which is a bit odd but the only thing that he really wants!
Each to his own, I suppose. I only wear glasses for driving, and don't remotely like the idea of lasers in my eyes....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

DH and I discuss sexual taste openly. I'm also quite used to discussing pleasing morphological form asexually....dogs, horses, ( houses clothes) and can see thing I don't like that would appeal to others or that I like but won't suit for some reason might or might not suit someone else. A sister ( or friend) could be discussed both conformationally and in 'type' without igniting ire in either direction for me. Might say more about my status with siblings though!0 -

I remember in 1987 I was just round the corner from that beach, on the exposed/bleak headland ... it was bucketing it down and howling a gale (August bank holiday of course) .... the rain was making the red dye in my cotton skirt run into the white stripes and down my legs.... I was sodden.... and dragging my bf out to the end of the headland saying "You're on holiday - this is how you enjoy yourself"0 -

Sisters are different, though (for me). No problem with discussing whether someone is attractively sexually, but sisters are a different kettle of fish....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

:rotfl:
We are out of practise as haven't really eaten out much at all recently and have spent the last 6 months living in the garden.
In fact we realised we had picked up some bad habits once we moved back to eating off a small temporary table indoors.
An example would be just clearing the plates straight onto the grass by leaning over then taking dirty plate indoors, eating meat off a bone and just chucking it over one shoulder, never wiped the table as it had holes in it and we just swept crumbs off onto patio...you get the idea.
It was all very Medieval.0 -

I have. But he still won't ever swim in the sea without a wetsuit (-:
They have weird conversations in Israel in the summer, such as, "it's too hot to go to the beach today", which sound like Greek to me. In Hebrew.
My Mama was showing Isaac a photo at the weekend, of me (aged about 6) and my sister (aged about 4) making a sand fort with my Dad - we were all dressed in swimming costumes and jumpers or cardigans, and my other sister was a blanket-wrapped newborn bundle in the background....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
