We certainly didn't regard any window which required someone to get through a metal door, climb over 4 ft railings and then edge along a window ledge 15 feet above concrete slabs as accessible. So I'll check the insurance and see....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Does locking double glazed windows make any odds - by the time you have smashed the glass enough to access the handles you could probably have a big enough hole to climb through without needing to open them anyway?
I must admit the ones which are locked without the keys in (can't leave them in with the kids around) do worry me - being trapped inside with a fire seems like more of a worry than theft but then we don't have any valuables or cash in the house ever and not even a car worth stealing the keys of.
Our new section windows do have the open a crack option but I can see that these could then be jemmied a lot more easily. I also wonder whether anyone could get through the small top windows that open in the bathroom, I couldn't but a child probably could, are these commonly used as a means of access?

I don't know. It doesn't arise for us, because our building has giant, metal, Edwardian windows.I'm afraid I'm with Jelly on the feminine logic thing.
As my A level history teacher said, "elucidate!"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I think the theory is that people may put a well wrapped arm through a broken glass hole, but they won't climb through it. So if they can't open the locked window, they will only steal something within arms reach of the window.I must admit the ones which are locked without the keys in (can't leave them in with the kids around) do worry me - being trapped inside with a fire seems like more of a worry than theft but then we don't have any valuables or cash in the house ever and not even a car worth stealing the keys of.
Hence the requirement to now have one that is not key operated. Our new section windows do have the open a crack option but I can see that these could then be jemmied a lot more easily. I was told that burglars train their kids in the family profession by getting them to climb through tiny windows, don't know if it is true.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Regarding the patio doors, that happened to my neighbour. Even though their garden backs on to ours and we were home, we heard nothing.
Coming from a family of trade ies, it probably won't come as any surprise that one has an alarm fitting business. The Windows that you can put a hand through can be forced. In more general terms, any Windows that are large enough to fit your head through can be entered by a burglar.
As you may be able to tell I am on the tablet this morning. This annoyingly only recognises Windows as a trade name requiring capitalisation, not a ubiquitous glazed item. As for trade people in the shorter form, that gets auto corrected to readies, or trade lies. Bloody frustrating. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? We're having a lazy morning.
. Dh made coffee, and steamed dim sum and is having dim sum, mochi and and coffee in bed, while we flick through Nigel slater's kitchen diaries. We're having baked aubergine for supper. And courgettes. There is no denying autumn is in the air this morning. If our summers were always as nice as this one has been we would probably be talking about the summer squash recipes today, or maybe even the first mushrooms. But we want to enjoy summer still, but its too cold for salad, so baked aubergine, grilled courgette.

It's still 2 months and a couple of weeks until the clocks change. And last year many trees did not shed their leaves until November. So, I'm resisting all suggestions about autumn being in the air already. Na na na na na na na, I've got my fingers in my ears and I can't hear you.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I'm getting a little bit worried about my lack of energy now. It's been 8 weeks and I definitely should have recovered but I stil get tired easily and don't always have enough energy. Sometimes find it hard to concentrate.
Not sure i want to go down the multivitamin route but not sure of what else to do as it will only get worse when it's winter.0 -

I'm thinking your expectations are too high. I would expect it to be several months until you get back to where you were and that would have been without the extra stress you have been going through of late. To mere mortals like me you are a major overacheiver and should probably be careful you avoid the emotional problems some perfectionists suffer when they are merely superhuman rather than perfect.
Viva you have not been banned it would appear :-)I think....0
