I I have an office in hertfordshire ( spot the rebellious small h:eek:), so I'm half way there and Mr Bugs' previous wife's father was Jewish, so I'm almost fitting the demographic:p
It was about 20 years ago, air freight office with a lone desk covering seafreight. I try not to think about it or the evening trying to dissuade an over amorous fire extinguisher salesman from wanting to join me in my hotel room. Feltham, fire extinguisher salesman - sounds like the start of a bad sitcom.
You've not told us your views on mushrooms, though, Bugs. You need to have strong views on them, whether pro or anti!
Feltham is a complete pit, just a rather nasty dormitory for Heathrow....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Reports finished and uploaded with two and a half hours to spare before the deadline. No more to do until the end of November now.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Put your feet up Lydia!
Mushrooms, NDG - is there any recorded case of one of the NPs being neutral? I don't dislike them, but don't get terrifically excited either by them. Have I failed?
Before I'm ejected for being so non-commital on the mushroom issue - bed side table:
kindle
lamp
alarm clock
glass ( no beaker) of water
mobile phone
other bedside table
matching lamp
landline phone
photoframe
china heart-shaped dish that holds small items, such as rings etc.0 -

Generally speaking, NPs have to decide that they are either manna from heaven, or the devil's work. We might make an exception in your case, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
That's very kind of you, what with being from the North, I've felt handicapped from the start:p:rotfl:0

I know my mother's always said that her own father never seemed to recognise she was older than 12, and I think my Dad's the same - he's worrying about me and Isaac going down to Kent for the weekend. There's a special event at Battle Abbey that I'm taking Isaac to tomorrow, and Dad's not at all happy about me driving down in the dire weather forecast for tonight. So he's offering to pick me and Isaac up at Ashford station, and drive us to Battle tomorrow instead.
The weather forecast for the afternoon and evening in Kent is absolutely dire; very heavy rain and wind. When Bruv drove me back from Tunbridge Wells hospital on Tuesday evening, we had a puncture, but it was on a country road with stopping places, and dry, so he could change the tyre. If that happened to you on the motorways tonight, or you broke down, you and Isaac would have to leave the car and stand off the motorway in the pouring rain, which would not be sensible in your condition.
Why not get the train from Ashford, and I can pick you up and drive you to Battle tomorrow? Mum says she agrees with the suggestion!
The one exception my Mama noted in relation to her own father was when she was 7 months' pregnant with Bruv, at the age of 37, and he said, "Aren't you getting a bit old for all of this?" Which she regarded as one of the least useful things anyone had ever said to her. It was a bit late to change her mind!
Do other NPs with adult children still fret about them?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Well, that's very understandable, but we don't hold it against you. Much (-:
My parents were both born in Cheshire, although the place they come from is now Merseyside - changed at some point between 1950 and now!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Cling to the Cheshire aspect and ignore the Merseyside change!
On the other forum I inhabit, it would seem parents are always parents. Plenty of ladies with offsping in their 30s and 40s and they all worry about them.
I think fathers probably worry about daughters more than sons.0
