Pn you are confirming something I have said for awhile, Americans are, ATM, streets ahead of us on the 'normal' price range home furnishings and fittings thing. I've found it with everything, including lighting.
I also think they in general are better at decorating than us. I love architectural digest, and while its 'international' its american really, and the inspiration in there is really so much better. Haven't bought it for years though. Last copy was a couple of years ago I think.
I'd love to go into business with someone, with them being the business and me helping with the selection of buying, importing some of the fantastic stuff, because its heads and shoulders above some of the boring and frankly, below par stuff we have in the same price brackets.
Big money, we do really well. But 'midrange' they got us beat IMO. I suppose diversity and size of market helps.0 -

My parents reacted in their predictable ways, from my mother's "darling! How wonderful!" to my Dad's, "Right, NDG, you need to look after yourself, get lots of sleep, early nights, eat properly...."
Congratulations to the NDGs.
What joy and excitement, so much to look forward to.

Get back from 4 days visiting parent to find I had left the freezer door very slightly open
All freezer food has defrosted and feels that it is fridge temperature. Freezer is awash with icy water and ice.
Can't really risk cooking the food and re-freezing in case it has been above fridge temp by just a few degrees for a few days.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If I came to a meet up in London, it would most def be via train...not got the balls to drive in London anymore, been far too long.
My main problem would be any kind of distance to walk, I can't do it and I can't self propel a wheelchair either...middle son is my usual 'driver'. Oh and panic attacks on my own in what would now be a strange land to me (oh how I remember just jumping on and off tube trains in my younger days without a care in the world), unfortunately, the panic attacks are a left over symptom from my break down.
Been a good day today after a horrendous night, 1 hour sleep for both me and youngest as he had an English oral exam this morning and he had got into a right state about it as it was in front of someone he didn't know.....only for them to cancel the blooming thing! Anyway, saw lovvverrr and went for a meal, 2 x 2 course meals plus drinks (pint for him, orange cordial for me) for the grand total of £12.49!
We couldn't believe the prices (2 x main meals for £6.45 and 2 for 1 on desserts) and thought there would be a catch like smaller meal sizes, not very nice etc, there wasn't, both were decent size, both tasted very good indeed although there was a bit of a wait for the food to come out.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Wow, an eventful day's thread!
Congratulations to NDG and other half :T - hope you feel better soon. Must be awful if you don't feel quite right in court ...
Congratulations on being the proud owner of what a colleague of mine teasingly called a 'millstone' Nikkster - I still cherish the certificate he made me on the day 3 1/2 years ago
Congratulations to michaels on owning a (nother?) property and good luck in finding non-cannabis-farming tenants
I managed to get 3 charity trustees together for a brief meeting lasting 15 minutes. One forgot but luckily the other two and I could wait until he cleared his desk at work and legged it to the place we were meeting! Honestly, it's like herding cats sometimes!!0 -

Congrats on the tenants.....I thought that 6 months upfront people are ones who can't pass the credit check..no other reason to do it that way otherwise.......did they say why?0
