Yes, it was suggested he have an hour, 3 times a week, to start with. He seems to actually enjoy them, and that's largely down to the teacher, who is really, really good at keeping him interested. Isaac was also prepared to be interested, which always helps....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I hope it goes well with Issac.
Just did my tax return - very straight forward, only had to do it to give back jan-march child benefit. This year I will earn under 50k. Net cost to the govt of trying to withdraw my child benefit - 10kI think....0 -

I thought that once you entered the "please complete a tax return " loop it was virtually impossible to escape.
I don't see why the cost to the government is 10k, unless you have chosen to deprive yourself of income that would have been charged at 10k, just to avoid losing CB? In which case aren't you the one that shoulders the greater loss?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Just in from the opera. Scenery in the last act collapsed. Twice. Audience and orchestra amused themselves doing Mexican waves.0

Wonderful anyway though I hope?
We're just about to go out and start in the garden but its so autumnal this morning that its hard to feel that enthused. While I adore autumn, this summer has been So welcome that its going to be sad to lose it.
As I sit and type I am facing my sitting room window, where I had some vanilla scented nemesia this summer, and the smell was gorgeous, however, I have somehow offended it and its dying on me. I realised this morning that I would be better replacing it with cyclamen for autumn and that's a little sad.
Oh sheesh.....clients. Off I go.0 -

That sounds divine. I was laying in bed this morning enjoying the breeze when I too had a smell come in. I think one of my garden plants may smell of cat wee. More worrying, my garden may smell of actuall cat wee, which is disturbing given that I don't have a cat. Given the number of cat fights I've been woken by in my garden in recent weeks though, I think it is their night-time entertainment venue of choice:(. Certainly it triggers the security system and with the curtains open (now flyscreen is up) it is a bit like sleeping with disco lights.
I may have to buy a dog. Or some lion poo. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Do you have box in you garden? Or lilies?
Box smells horrifically of piddle. They have been selling it all summer in tescos which means almost every time I go in there I have bought no food because its smelt of wee. I cannot understand how people buy fruit fom a shelf next to a stand of plants than smell of !!!!. (Yet I lived in a house where !!!! was kept in the fridge sometimes, ...but in sealed containers ). Its really odd how minds work.0 -

Ok - the govt has not forgone the income altogether as they will no doubt tax me when I receive my pension but that should be at 15% after lump sum whereas they are losing out on tax, NI and employers NI of 55.8% plus they will get the tax in 25 years time rather than this year.
If everyone earning between 50 and 70k with kids does the same it may well be that they actually lose money by introducing the child benefit cut
Debating whether to fill the pool again, forecast is poor but it seems a shame not too as the kids are off. Perhaps we will just use it like a paddling pool and put in 8 inches of warm water each morning?I think....0 -
