Weird isn't it. I can totally see on other people that certain colours suit them, but can't see it at all on myself.

If it's any help, the warm colours - autumn and spring - tendd to have green shaded veins than the cool colours, who have blue veins in their arms. Should get you part way there!

mine are grey-bluey-greeny. so no help.

I know that black looks really bad on me. Pale blue suits me. Not sure about any other colour.

what sort of sofa? we're looking for another one but we don't buy new or ikea :p

If you don't do a deal with michaels, second hand designer is worth looking at. Something like Ligne Rosset, de Sede, Florence Knoll, Ercol even.

Congratulations to him. I don't know his age, but I had none during my school years, something that impacts stillnow, but once I got into the world of work, it changed me a lot and I manage to fool most people into thinking I am tough as old boots.

Thank you bugslet and everyone else who's posted congratulatory comments. He's just coming up for 13 in a week or two, but he's a very "old" 13. Kind of "13 going on 55".

Me too. I had my colours done as my utterly frivolous and non-academic treat for finishing my PhD thesis. I went with a friend and we had a blast. I remember the woman who did it saying "Well, of course some people take it ever so seriously and say that you should never wear the colours that don't suit your season, but I think that's taking it a bit too far. I never say never." And then a few minutes later as she was draping different coloured cloths round my neck and considering the effect on my face, she said, "Um.... Lydia .... you know what I said about never saying never? Well, you should never wear black." Wearing black anywhere near my face makes me look so anaemic that people ask me if I'm feeling OK.

For the uninitiated, it probably sounds terribly limiting, but actually you still end up being able to wear lots of colours, if they're the right kind of that colour. So I look better in cool pinks than salmon pinks, and better in blue-ish greens than sage greens, and so on. I no longer wear black above the waist, but I look OK in charcoal grey. It also means that the things in your wardrobe go with each other in lots of combinations without clashing.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I know all about having your colours done  The ladies here at work repeat ad nauseam how this or that new garment "matches their colour".

What surprises me is they charge £100-150 to have someone tell you what your colour is? Isn't this something you can find out yourself...just be experience? By seeing what colour range matches you? Or am I being a stupid male now? :)

I was a library "prefect" at school
We had no such thing. I know that because I used to spend a lot of time in the library looking at pictures of food :)

There was a fat old lady who sat at the desk and that was it. She was miserable.

Some people might be able to work it out ... I'd not have a clue.

But then I've also not got: [1] £100-150 to find out [2] money to buy new clothes.

I remember this Colour me Beautiful thing being 'sold' as a party plan style of home business in the late 70s.

Did you plant your toms very late? They seem quite delayed, compared with ours (both windowsill and outdoors).

Yes. We still had snow here first week in april, remember?;) Not ideal tomato planting weather!

Yes, it does seem late...we are nearly done with our toms (outdoors) and have been eating the most tasty toms since late July.

There are several nice sized green ones still hanging, but I doubt if they will ever ripen.

I'm plucking the reddening ones off as they turn. If it starts to get too cold, I'll crop the lot & leave them on a windowsill to ripen. Always works. 2 years ago I recall taking the very last one to work for lunch on the day we broke up for christmas.

Lemonjelly do not feel deprived by tales of NP ripe tomatoes. Mine have only ripened over the last week -we returned from hols on Sunday to the first that are ready to pick.

    A triumph over previous years.

See above spirit!:) I'll be smug in a month cos I have loads of fresh toms, whilst everyone else is buying rubbish squidgy ones from supermarkets!:D
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
