I adore baths, they are one of life's great luxuaries. In fact, I'm going to go and have one now, and wallow in gloriously warm, lavender-scented water; I feel tired and lazy, and I reckon that will restore me to as close to normality as I ever acheive....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

It was used in an advert and there were sheep in it. I can remember the music and the sheep, but not the context. I think the sheep were indoors and that it was an advert for either wool or woollen carpets.
I think I have been well and truly sold to. Carmina Burana will always remind me of Old Spice; Lakme of British Airways; Air on a G String of cigars... And serves me right for thinking like this, the Shake and Vac woman is now doing her routine in my head. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I find it exciting the adverts can bring music to new audiences.
Similarly I have always disliked, personally, classic fm, but love that it exists...radio three is a brilliant station but sometimes is rather.......pleased with its self. Its scheduling is all wrong for me too. I always wonder for whom its just right.0 -

I feel like a spare part this evening. DH has gone out by himself for the first time since his op. As every waking hour I've been home he's been here since he was released in June, this feels very strange and I feel extremely protective. I'm expecting something along the lines of "mum, stop texting me!" soon...
Hopefully he will be well enough to go back to work in a few weeks. Considering how bad things were at the time of the op, this is very good news.
Good news, so pleased he is now a lot better. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

It's how I've learned about a lot of classic music... plus films, tv programmes, background music when I'm out, classical compilations etc.
I couldn't do highbrow if I tried. I did go to a decent opera once - Domingo was singing - but I've never been so bored. It was interminable.
I like the way adverts bring older music to new audiences too. I hope that people who left music years ago and suddenly get royalty cheques for songs long forgotten enjoy them. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There is a program on radio 4 at the moment about china. Seemed to be mostly Chinese business people moaning about the Chinese yoof - can't get the staff; all fancy degrees and no interest in working hard. When that finished it was some Chinese students complaining there aren't any skilled jobs for graduates. Sounds a bit like Britain although no-one mentioned pay day lending or people spending money on iPhones instead of house deposits so it can't be exactly the same.0

Just spoken to James, think he is all partied out as he is spending a quiet night in his room on his laptop.
He has been having tremendous fun, made lots of friends (he has always been very social thank goodness) and is loving bigger town living compared to living in a village on the outskirts of a small town. That said, he cannot wait until the serious stuff starts tomorrow, he's itching to crack on with it.
As an example, he can walk to the cinema in less than 2 minutes, a big one with several screens, here it is either a bus ride (or a very long walk) to our little two screen cinema or a 45 minute bus ride to the multi screen cinema in the next big town. The nearest shopping center is again 2 minutes walk away, here it is a 30 minute car ride away.
Literally everything is on his doorstep...and boy is he loving that.We made it! It's why I'm still living in London. I often get pretty irritated with all the people here and queues and planes flying over my house. Then I go to visit someone who lives somewhere else and realise you have to pay £20 for a taxi to get anywhere unless you're willing to wait an hour for a bus and everything is always shut when you get there!0 -
Classical music - we don't really do it in the house but DD1 is doing some fugues and minuets for her piano grade and it is lovely to hear n the house, on the piano she often plays as an organ, strings or 'choral voices' and it is beautiful.
Our thoughts are with you Viva for Dr Tiff and Nikki our fingers are crossed for you.
I am planning to trump LIRs and NDGs beams but need to find somewhere to upload a photo to, brb.I think....0 -
Our house is always filled with music of various types as middle son is a musician....and now he wants a bass guitar as he has discovered (much to his music teacher's shock) he can play it. He pretty much just picked one up and played the song the bass player had been struggling with, straight off.
He appears to have a skill in just watching what others are doing and then doing it himself (no matter what instrument) or listening to a piece of music once, picking up an instrument and playing it.
I think he is finally showing that he is not just a drummer. We made it!
