DS2 has gone back to uni today :(

DS1 got the job, so could potentially be off the payroll, though I think we will still fund his mobile phone and sort out some insurances (health/ car/ house) for him.

That makes us term-time-only empty nesters.

Just at the time the older generation become needy. Parent has been de-sectioned on agreeing to stay there voluntarily for a further week. "Go out for the evening if you want" the consultant told her! Where does he think a lady in her 70s, alone, in the middle of nowhere, without her car, on medication that isn't quite balanced, going to go?

Ditto, SC...we are trundling gently on into the a similar situation. I could only write this here in the safety of the NP thread....but...I was hoping for just a couple of carefree years.

I mean, we started child rearing when I was just 24 and 1 is still at home .......and an 'Old' may move in next year + we haven't been able to have noisy you know what for years.
It's the only 'down thing' that OH says to me.

He did say to me we can do it noisy again when we are 75. :o

    ....nor me.
I know in each persons industry it is said that we are only 2 people away from knowing everybody. I always remember that when I want to be a bit rude to someone (not for the sake of it but because they are being a PITA).

I went to a halloween party as a ham sandwich. Witches hat, two large pieces of foam cut like slices of white bread - crusts painted with a match pot worn front and back tied over the shoulders. Piggy mask.

:rotfl::rotfl: I did write after that it wasn't relevant to the sight theme but for some reason, that bit wasn't in the post...maybe I highlighted it, deleted it and didn't notice as it was a contraband post done during working hours.:o

The sandwich board idea is a good one ....

Nikks; Glad Bestival was fun...did you bump into any nice man-totty whilst you were there?

Doubt there's any to me unless it's purely through theoretical location; born in Hitchin (N Herts) and lived in Broxbourne (SE Herts) from age 6 to Uni. Parents still live there.

Ah, Great British Bake Off, you are balm to a fevered soul (or some such lyrical stuff) :D

Followed by the programme on BBC4 on the Ancient Greeks and Theatre. Education for the mind while the eyes feast on the lovely Dr Michael Scott :o

    Ahhh ... happy smile :)

NP who know about these things- how unusual is it to be trying to frame your hypotheses the night before you get your dissertation bound?

as long as it's done before it's bound. that is all that matters :D

I bet if I tried hard enough I could find one between you and my husband.

(in retrospect that sounds a bit Jeremy Kyle, but isn't what I mean)

:rotfl: challenge accepted. pm tomorrow am as I'm dead to the world now

I was super quick. I am really looking forward to hot water and heating.

Spoke to architect this evening about oil and he said to look at it as a medium term thing....after all....he rightly said, I never wanted wood pellet, it was the rhis that made it so sensible. ( in fact. I was adamant I didn't ant it as its bit really that green, nor self sufficient).

So, back to long term plan of ground source. And medium term one of oil. Suddenly this seems brilliant. Its like the wood stands out from the trees again. Why were we trying to make something we didn't want work? For the money? Pfft....money is long gone concern here. ( quids in if you can make it work though in right set up) But the question is the council, having told them we won't have a tank.......
