so, another one of my i really should know better questions. i didn't go training last week and signed up for this week (tomorrow) but have SMALL cold (I always get a subsequent bacterial infection). debating whether to go and sweat the bugs out or wimp[/QUOTEif you are upping fitness I'd say no. Risk of Post viral nasties aren't worth it. Do maintainaince training instead to feel virtuous but not over stress.

Not convinced by this year's line up - I only know about half of them and those that I know, some I'm not overly engaged by.

Will dutifully watch it and hopefully it will grow this year (last year's series felt unbeatable).

Started my two weeks' leave today. Work had asked me to start the CIPD experience assessment route (to see whether my experience is sufficient to be accredited for membership, without having to undertake exams).

So, spent all weekend preparing for it. Had the preliminary sift phone call this morning and got knocked back on the grounds that what I do is too narrow within the specialism, and too high for the level I was seeking (lowest level). Very frustrated because some of my examples of wider work weren't permitted because I don't do them consistently daily, and when the assessor said what I really needed to be doing was x y z, I had done that but hadn't had the chance to evidence it! Can't do the exam route because of health issues. Can't tackle the higher level (even if I wanted to, which I don't really want to) because it's not what my job is.

It's amazing how disproportionately and unreasonably upset something like that can make you! Have felt knackered all day (the power cut during the night, setting off the house alarm, followed by the laptop refusing to re-charge, and the phone dying mid-call all didn't help either!!).

And I'm trying to be good so no pudding or wine *grump* (can't really give in on day 1 of the trying to be good).

I have chosen to be deliberately annoyed by the very annoying Jamie Oliver and his ridiculous new show...... he's on about money saving dinners - his budget for one meal is 2x my whole day's budget :)

    W*nker,

True, I could have strawberries from the fridge - had temporarily forgotten they were there in my desire for (and restraint from) a crumble. ;)

    W*nker,

I'm not watching. But cost per day is only one cost. Cost over lifetime to health (and health service) is also a consideration. And plain old pleasure.

I know old styles have hated the book, but I think some of them just love to hate some things. A lot of these things aren't really designed for people who can already cook to a budget. But for people who cannot cook or cannot cook to a budget then.....its useful.

You could always have roasted strawberries. :)

I wouldn't go so far as to say I dislike crumble, but I've never actually 'wanted' it. My fruit use of choice is tart or pie.

I do love apple dumplings though.

There you go, I just made crumble the healthy option, feel virtuous, eat crumble. :)

I follow my Dad's prejudices in relation to qualifications - anyone who puts his qualifications in random emails / letters / etc is an idiot, and only a medical doctor should call himself "Dr. Smith" or whatever

Although, technically speaking, I think it is Doctors of Philosophy who are supposed to have more of a right to call themselves 'Dr.' I think.

Should I get that far, I will be changing my correspondence to say Dr. I won't care if it makes me an idiot, I'll be making the most of it :D. If I post things to any of my Dr. friends, I usually address the envelope to 'Dr' - they've worked flipping hard for it!

It would also let me drop the 'Miss.' :)
