I just think its a case of 'the truth' rather than 'the whole truth'. I think the same goes for most circles one moves in....there is no need for your banker to know about your lingerie purveyor nor your casual lover to know about your podiatry issues.
Let's hope none of them read the NP thread then... Otherwise were all in trouble (some of us more than others!). I'm sure we must have covered lingerie and podiatry at some point by now.0 -

This is very similar to what I have recently been saying to DD about keeping secrets (for nice purposes like birthday surprises, or for respecting other people's confidences) without telling lies.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Heehee! While there are things I've said on here that I wouldn't necessarily choose to share with all my acquaintance, I am generally careful not to post anything that would be truly catastrophic if the "wrong" people read it. I realised, of course, that my anonymity had been hopelessly shot to pieces once I explained about late-nearly-ex. I mean, just how many people fit the description of Christian 40-something physics teacher in an independent school whose husband was killed during their divorce process? Anybody who knows me IRL would recognise me on here pretty quickly, I imagine. I know it's a bit of a risk, but I tend to assume that the kids I teach don't frequent websites devoted to debating house prices, and as long as it's only people who know me as a person rather than as a teacher, I don't much mind. I do try not to post details that would enable lurkers on here to track me down IRL though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Any suggestions for nice places to visit when driving to the Isle of Wight? I seem to recall some time back somebody having a nice time over there.
The Crab an Lobster in Bembridge is apparently excellent.
NDG - I've never been to Greece so can't recommend anything except to urge you to be careful lest you end up as finance minister or Attouney General in an interim Government.
Mrs Generali is still pretty sick. For the pneumonia she was given 5 days-worth of pills rather than 7 to force her to make a visit to her doctor to get checked on so that's what I'm up to today.0 -
It is a all world. Someone has posted on Facebook that they are awaiting the plane DS2 flew out on. And it is stopping in Europe somewhere on the return trip to change crew!
DS2 said they were sat on the plane for hours before take off. According to another board on MSE he should be entitled to about £250 compensation.

We've had a great day out in Yarmouth, we didn't leave until mid afternoon because we were going for the night time model village but still had a lovely time.
Younget especially enjoyed it, he may come over as very technical and aloof but his emotional age is that of a 10 year old, so he still gets excited by going on the little ride on things, playing kiddies golf and winning teddies...generally, enjoying what most 10 year olds like doing on a day out rather than the usual moody 15 year old, I'm not a child so I will not be seen dead on that thing you would get.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Its good to star the day off giggling.
Some of my pills have to change now, but I start the probiotic trial today. Warning on the sachet, contains lactose and skimmed milk, plus a host of other stuff.
I'm not bothered, after all its not what I tested highest to, and I didn't even know until last week. Gave me a chuckle though. Its only a two week trial so by the time they have decided whether I do it or not it will be over so I'll just do it I think and tell them what happened.0 -

Eventually all the dots in the world will join. We'll probably find it leaves us of a picture of jerry the mouse pummelling Tom the cat with a big hammer..
Sounds like OH in one of his philosophical moods - he talks about how once you know everything about one tiny thing, that means you know everything about everything, because of connections.
My Dad reckons that my mother's church choir is actually a dating agency or marriage bureau vaguely disguised by a bit of singing once in a while. Since my mother joined it 20-odd years ago, there have been 12 marriages among its members!
If NDG's mother (or any of the NP) want to line me up a queue I'll be happy to meet them, as long as she's able and willing to bear the faith requirement in mind.
PS Apologies to any NP or lurkers who felt my original attempt at a jokey comment to Yorkie was too hetero-centric. I didn't think until afterwards. Perhaps I should go back to being boring and taking life seriously.
My mother's a fully paid-up card-carrying member of the Church of England - used to be on the PCC (before she was ill last year), and the church choir which means 2 x practices a week as well as Sunday services, and so forth. I imagine that's why LIR thought of her!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I'm don't actually know what denomination Lydia is, nor am I asking...but yes...the dot achingly joined last night....and I thought....you know, worth saying.....0
