Just heard a great quote on Dara O'Broin's show. A guest agrees: "We need to become a two-panet species, The dinosaurs had no space programme and look what happened to them":D

It's difficult to see how it could possibly be any different for teachers. The interviews have to be during school time so that they can observe the candidates teaching a lesson.
One of the best colleges I ever worked in never did that. They regarded everything that HR departments do as utter horse manure but not as useful.

    An utterly sensible place

I am watching a tv prog about the Burrell Collection.

It reminded me that I have book about the Glasow boys..so I have started to flick through it. Now I want to go to a gallery.

On Saturday OH is invited to a race series in Cardiff Bay, so I am going too . Whilst he is in a meeting and enjoying the hospitality I might try and visit the Welsh parliament building as I have never seen it and am told it is beautiful.

The Burrell's lovely. When anybody visits where my family live it's a must. It's got The Thinker by Rodin (well one of them anyway).

Half a term is standard in the state sector. For most private schools these days it's a whole term. Our contract says we have to give notice by 31st Dec to leave at Easter, 30th April to leave at the end of the summer, or 31st August to leave at Christmas.

My mother says that her teaching experience was very limited, but she enjoyed it - she taught in 3 schools (2 in the 1970s, 1 in the 1990s-2000s) and they were all selective, academic girls' schools. 1 boarding school, 2 London day schools.

There are 9 of them, aren't there? 9 lifetimes casts, anyway, I think.

GCSE results day...think I am more nervous than middle son!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Hope the results are good sue, and any one else waiting on them..

Tbh sue, that does sound like a healthy attitude. There is nothing he can do now to change them. Wish I could be that cool about impending news at times!

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Hope today goes well lir for you.

Good luck to the middle one Sue and anyone else that is expecting GCSE results today.

Never had pet insurance Zag, I'm always convinced that the insurance company wins and having multiple dogs at any one time, the cost would be horrendous. So far it's always worked out for me. Fingers crossed for the mutt.
  • Good luck to middle son, Sue.

He did well! He got his English which is the one we were worrying about so huge relief. One annoying thing is the school mucked up his music as not all his coursework had been submitted by the school, so he missed out on his A* (well 2 A*'s as it was worth 2 GCSEs).

Still, he still got 10 A-C GCSEs including English and Maths.
