  • Well done to stepson, MissK.

OH did Hebrew GCSE, was a freebie for him.

It used to be you could do Geography in French and it counted as two GCSEs. Also Business Studies in Spanish, again counted as two. All gone now I think.

I try to keep thinking of educational changes as improvements but sometimes I despair.

  • Oh dropped two marks in his Hebrew GCSE - in the listening. he said it was so slow he got bored and looked out of the window for a bit, and then realised he'd missed a couple altogether.

Had a busy afternoon - I finally have my new phone & sim card (so much for "2-3 days" T mobile) and drafted a pre-action protocol letter, judicial review grounds and application for an emergency injunction in 2.5 hours (bloody fast, if I say so myself) and I'm now awaiting a phone call from the out-of-hour on-duty High Court Judge in order to make a telephone application for an injunction.

My neice was a little upset, she rang my sister in tears with partial results. She had done well in her health and social care (Distinction*) but had just missed out on her maths with a D. It was quite weird, me and middle son were sweating on him hitting a C in English and had already got the maths GCSE last year (and was taking further maths, which he again glided through), whereas she had got her English but she and my sister were sweating on her getting her Maths!

All is not lost though, she can still go to the college she chose but instead of doing a course worth 3 A levels, she is having to do the same course but worth 1 A level and retake Maths but she can then, once reaching the required grade in her Maths, go back to her original plans.

Mind you, neither she nor middle son can see how well they have done in other areas, they are just focussed on the bit which has disappointed them.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

4 separate phone conversations currently going on in the quiet carriage. I may commit murder before I make it home for the +1 showing...

I am always amazed how house finders don't realise the flaws in their finds. e.g. these who want to salsa dance... bet they show them some top floor flats, with people underneath.

I've seen a househunter find a woman with a baby (stroller/pram) a house along a cobbled pedestrian lane, then up 6 steep narrow steps and along a narrow dark alleyway to the back door.

Or the ones with a baby and toddler, who were shown a modern house with spiral staircase and mezzanine living area over the staircase.
