Fantastic, you must be relieved - and is he pleased, too?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I'm relieved and chuffed, he is peed off and feeling like he has failed because of the music muck up.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
10 is good. I'd be livid if I missed an A* because of the school's incompetence.
Speaking of GCSEs:

How'd you do? Modesty prevents me from saying I got 7/7.0 -
I'm cross.
One of the real hazards of being a barrister is how long it takes to get paid for work you do, and sometimes not getting paid at all.
My receipts for the last 2 years have been quite low, compared with before, because I spent so much of my time working on the same case, which kept failing to get going properly - originally listed at Southwark Crown Court for autumn 2011, they ran out of judges, so it was sent to Harrow for May 2012. The trial started then, and after about 3 weeks, the judge discharged the jury and sent the case to Harrow, where we started at the beginning of January and finished at the end of March.
So that's an awful lot of the total work I've done in the past couple of years, and the first hearings in the case were in the summer of 2010.
You can't even claim for the work until the trial's over, so my claims were banged in sharpish just after Easter, and I still haven't been paid a penny.
My fees clerk's been on the phone to the Legal Services Commission pretty much daily for ages, as they gave an original estimate of the time to tax the claim and then pay it of 6 weeks (so mid-May). On their website, the LSC's still claiming it's on a 6 week turnaround.
Then, yesterday, a more senior manager told my senior clerk that they can't find the file anywhere, and it needs to be resubmitted in full.
It's obviously had an effect on our finances, we're both feeling very broke indeed, and I can't replace (say) my laptop which was stolen in the burglary yet.
This year I've paid more in tax than I've had in, which is a right PITA!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I got 6 - modesty wouldn't allow me to point out I got 7 in the equivalent history one yesterday (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I flunked the history - only 3/7. I gave it up as soon as I was allowed to at school, and while I've picked up a fair amount of historical information since, it doesn't generally include precise dates etc.
7/7 in both maths (which it would be shocking if I couldn't do) and science (in which I could get by perfectly well without knowing the biology, but managed them this time).Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Shocking! I am fed up on your behalf, and feeling rather for my own barrister, who's been doing stuff on my case for a while now, with no real prospect of it finishing for at least another year. Not that my case takes up very much of his time. I hope he's getting a quicker turn-around on the pay for some of his other cases.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I'm also too modest to claim 7/7 without a calculator, the diagram showing 72 degrees looking like about 45 degrees I did by visualisaton.
The Science was almost as good, the history best not mentioned....I think....0 -

Can he not appeal? It seems unfair when it's not a fault of his.neverdespairgirl wrote: »I'm cross.

!
I take it that is specific to the type of work you do? The only time I employed one, I paid pretty much on receipt of invoice.
I wouldn't even attempt the maths one, numbers to me are hard work. Often wondered if I have a mild version of dyscalculia, or if I'm thicker than I think I am.:o Decimal points and zeros are particularly problematic, though equasions for some reason were easier when at school.0
